Like you, I am a living person with memories, emotions, and interests. But from your perspective, I’m just another picture on a screen. Isn’t that concerning?

This explains why I got a text from my carrier saying all phones now come unlocked. Guess they're preparing ahead of time. Mine was already unlocked, but still.

I love chrono trigger, though I'm pretty young so my first time playing it was the Nintendo DS version in 2017. That soundtrack too... I get such warm feelings when I hear it.

lol, I'm one step ahead of you. I've moved on to a water bottle with stickers on it. I suppose I'm still participating in more trends than I thought.

I only learned to torrent because my dad used to when I was a kid. But these days I use XDCC instead because it's just so much more convenient. Though to be fair most of my friends who are also GenZ probably don't know how to do that either.

I recognise a lot of people on hexbear since most other instances defederate them. doesn't leave a lot of variety so it has that forum feel.

I condone poisoning this feature with false info. maybe it will teach them that the dislikes should be public again. using an extension is cool and all, but so many people still don't know about it.

Well, I suppose it made me realise how useless articles are in a statement.

«где здесь кинотеатр?»
(where here movie theatre?)

"where is the movie theatre around here?"

Without articles the point comes across in a much simpler form. that being said, a lot of other languages also have a terrifyingly complex case system or pointlessly gendered language or both. I don't think any language is "broken" but they all definitely have quirks.

It'll be hard. Just surround yourself with the people who matter most to you. Even if it's mundane things like going to the grocery store together. Try to remind yourself that these feelings are only temporary. Good luck to you, sincerely. I spiraled very hard after my last heartbreak and it ruined my life for a while. Wouldn't wish that on anyone else.

Being completely serious here, sailor moon and the sailor guardians. There's been so many times even in recent memory where I'll get an idea and I'll tell myself "well... the sailor scouts wouldn't think it's very nice to do that" (ex making negative comments toward someone else).

Just don't tell them lol. My friend in school gave me his steam account that had some games on it that I had no money for and he wasn't using it anymore. Still my main steam account 8 years later.

I finally bit the bullet for a friend and got into Warzone, the free to play call of duty mode. And honestly, I've become super into it as someone who previously has not enjoyed battle royale games very much. I'm always watching the new best loadout guides, keeping up with a YouTuber even, and thinking of new playstyle ideas to try after getting home from work. I haven't been this into a game since when I was a teenager playing counter strike.

I was screen sharing to someone when this happened and they asked why I don't use Google when other search engines are this unreliable. Despite me explaining it wasn't the usual, It was still pretty embarrassing lol. Wonder if DDG has the resources for an independent index.

if you're being for real, it's successor is this. though compared to other offerings these days I don't really prefer to use it. open source and no ads tho so that's cool.

Holy shit, I opened Lemmy with the intention of making a post exactly like this. A relative of mine is graduating soon and is super stressed and saddened by it, and as a result I've been listening to music from around the time I graduated lately. remembering how I felt, and despite knowing I was not well, just longing and wishing and beautifying the feeling. I suspect it's because I just want a chance to redo some fuck ups. I've been listening to a LOT of the very sad, dark types of songs from back then once more, and just remembering the feeling so hard it started to unfortunately come back for real.

As someone who is aging. Late thirties. How can I keep my finger on the pulse of current trends, particularly in music?

As an example. I grew up in hip-hop but at a certain point I stopped listening to new people and realised recently that I’d slept on some bangers. Like Kendrick particularly, but even people like Juice WRLD and Xxxtentacion....

FeelThePower ,
@FeelThePower@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Honestly, just follow some Instagram meme pages or browse SoundCloud's rap playlists. As a young person™️, this is how I've always found stuff, including xxxtentacion and lil peep when I was younger and they were both still around. If you're worried about "invading" our spaces like the other comment says, I think that sentiment is changing. I've befriended some older peeps online just for having anime pfps and stuff lmao.

USA Lemmies: Where do you live?

I comment a lot on stories having to do with state governments and legislation or regions of the country. It got me wondering how many people I'm accidentally disparaging when I don't mean everyone in said state or region is terrible. So… Please be as specific or obtuse as your privacy filter requires. I'll start:...

A couple hours north of you in the central valley. Hi neighbour.

9 years later, I finally played fallout 4

Having dropped New Vegas in the past due to lost interest, I decided to try this game out finally since a friend of mine was having a fallout 3 playthrough himself. It was it 8 bucks, so I figured why not. I have to say, I put way more hours into this game than both other Bethesda games I've played through (Skyrim and Oblivion)...

That part about weapons and armour rang true for me as well. I spent a lot of time just wandering the commonwealth looking for junk to upgrade with and levelling my gunsmith up as a result. I think this is the most I've really explored in a game. Personally I didn't really go in looking for anything so I was pleasantly surprised. But I definitely can see how say, someone going in for full role playing immersion from a game wouldn't feel quite the same.

FeelThePower OP ,
@FeelThePower@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I definitely plan to get the season pass in the future if I can catch it on sale as well! I definitely wouldn't say I'm done with the game as a whole, but for the time being I am just waiting to pick up the DLC.

FeelThePower OP ,
@FeelThePower@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

At first I dabbled quite a bit with it, decorating up the castle. But as time went on I honestly stopped paying attention to it.

I switched to MPV recently for the same reasons. If it had support for playing disc media it would be the absolute king of video players imo.

FeelThePower , (edited )
@FeelThePower@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

If so, then it definitely doesn't make it as obvious as VLC does. but good to know I suppose

edit: it only plays whatever the largest file it can find on the disc is, no menu / iso support. womp womp

Would you teach your kids how to pirate?

My gf and I have had discussions about teaching morals to kids. In that vein, I asked myself, would I teach piracy to my kids? Yes, it’s technically illegal and carries inherent risks. But so does teenage sex carry the risks of teenage pregnancy, and so we have an obligation to children to teach them how to practice safe sex....

FeelThePower ,
@FeelThePower@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

While I don't plan on being a parent, I will say that I did learn a good bit about piracy from my dad when I was younger, which kept me away from obviously shady things and now that I'm older I pretty much have a routine in place for my stuff whereas he doesn't even use a computer anymore. I think it's worth it really.

My interests tend to rotate, thankfully. I try to decorate my room or have things that will physically remind me of old hobbies and get me to jump start them back to life.
