Texas state government attempts to annex Mexico out of nowhere, fails miserably, and is subsequently taken back by mexico.

They can have it if they want it

tiefling , (edited )

But the first step is Dem voters having higher standards than "not a Republican".

The prerequisite to that is to dismantle the NRA and purge the Republican party from power by vote or by force so they can't ever back another Hitler wannabe again. Then we can talk policy.

tiefling , (edited )

Your example hinges on the implication that 100 America Street (ie the Republican Party) is stable and unable to cause further harm. In reality, 100 America Street is a blazing inferno, has billionaires in white hoods tossing cans of gasoline at it, and houses tons of high explosives that will absolutely level the entire neighborhood if/when it goes off.

Ignoring 100 to piss on 102 is only going to make a bad situation much, much, much worse. And at this point in time, one can't help but wonder whether anyone distracting from 100 America Street is doing so out of ignorance or malice.

As a horror performer who sees (and does) absolutely horrifying shit on a normal basis, fuck this shit in particular

I'm a sideshow circus performer. My specialty is fire performance, but I have other talents as well as a split tongue. My friends are the kinda people who like to swing from meat hooks and swallow swords. Freak show type stuff. We do it live on stage.

Unsurprisingly, I've also performed in haunted houses.

tiefling , (edited )

I have a day job that pays the bills (many of us do) because the only money in art is money laundering, but I do perform fairly often, and occasionally produce. Of course it varies on the season, some months are slow for everyone. My day job is a grind.

Also how was the bifurcation process?

Painful

tiefling ,

Got severe food poisoning and ended up in the ER after eating a tainted wrap from a deli

This was the second time

tiefling ,

Nope, a hundred miles apart

tiefling , (edited )

I planned my end of July weekend vacation around February. We have a senior dog who needs special attention, so it's often hard to find someone to watch her.

tiefling ,

It only contains copies of 50 Shades of Gray and Ayn Rand

tiefling ,

That's like, 90% of it

You repeating "I don't hate them" over and over while at the same time attacking trans people at their core sounds a lot like you're either in denial, or you're aware that your position is an unpopular one. Either way, it sounds like you need to do some self discovery.

tiefling , (edited )

Kinda the same in the US. I'm literally a circus performer in NY. You know what capitalists hate more than anything else? Weird circus people with more passion than money who embrace diversity and deviants

In my corner, a massive corporation is trying to get approval to build a casino on historic Coney Island. The company (Thor Equities) previously bought two disjoint historical blocks and let the buildings rot until they had to be demolished for safety reasons. Their plan has them taking over two more and engulfing our historic theater, a Sideshow museum, bumper cars, and a small music venue. Our theater is also home to the nonprofit that hosts all the cool events there. None of it matters to capitalists.

I'm a trans woman, have been transitioning for 10 years. It's really hit or miss whether or not people can clock me. I've had friends know me for two years without knowing I was trans.

Men ogle and catcall me frequently, it's annoying as fuck since I'm not even straight. It's flattering when queer women hit on me though. I've been both catcalled and misgendered within the same block. I also tend to have a strong social presence which is both a blessing and a curse.

Also, men cannot take no as an answer. I often pretend I have a boyfriend since creeps are more respectful of imaginary men than real women.

tiefling ,

Probably around 2 years in or so. It's not a light switch, it's more like a dimmer.

He's literally giving up information about our spies and causing them to "disappear"

The dude is a traitorous piece of shit who deserves to be punished for treason

tiefling ,

Even with shield and blade song, you'd need a 19 base AC

tiefling ,

I would spend the entirety of my time being creative and working on art

tiefling ,

There are no rules in English. Ask the people from each country what they prefer

tiefling ,

Republicans: "yep that's our holy saviour"

tiefling , (edited )

I can hammer nails and icepicks into my head. I'm very fire resistant and eat fire. I have a split tongue. I can keep my eyes open for a VERY long time.

TBF I'm a sideshow and fire performer so I'm cheating

tiefling , (edited )

Yes

tiefling ,

Art doesn't pay. Capitalism can't exploit it as much as manual labor so there's no money in it, unfortunately. On top of that, we have to constantly deal with people demeaning artists as useless and trying to bury us in favor of celebrities.

(Not a writer, but an artist nonetheless)

tiefling ,

It'll counteract the global warming! /s

tiefling ,

And the US will pretend they were on the right side of history

tiefling ,

Libertarians are Republicans that smoke weed. They are identical at their core.

tiefling ,

What is the maximum number of children who need to die before hamas(Isis) surrender?

"What is the maximum number of hostages police are allowed to kill before they negotiate with the bank robber?"

This isn't a game where the IDF has to grind kids for XP before attacking a final boss, asshole. The answer is "as few as possible, ideally zero", but the IDF has shown that they are either stupidly or maliciously indiscriminate in who they kill.

tiefling ,

Negronis are my absolute favorite drink, but most people I know hate them. Absinthe is just as divisive.

tiefling ,

I believe there's a coffee and campari drink that's similar

"Hacked" Instagram

My other half discovered that some dodgy person/company had managed to send instagram messages advertising handbags to all of her followers from her account. She changed her password immediately, but what could have happened here? Is it the case that a “hacker” had access to her full instagram account, or would they have...

tiefling ,

Huh, that's a weird way to spell *******

tiefling ,

I will take all of your olives

tiefling , (edited )

I've learned that I don't give a shit if a martini is shaken OR stirred. They're all fucking disgusting. I love gin, but who the fuck thought super salty gin would taste good? The olive is the only good part of the whole thing.

Except for espresso martinis, those are good.

I have ADHD, it's like having talk radio permanently on in my head. Often times I'll have an internal monologue playing on top of internal background music.

tiefling ,

This is more telling of you than anything. As someone in my 30s, anyone younger than 25 looks like a child to me.

tiefling ,

People have been hiding their racism? News to me

tiefling ,

✅ Useless comment
✅ Common typo
✅ Looks like VSCode

That code snippet looks mighty sketch

tiefling , (edited )

Stuff like this is really useful when variable names are annoying, or when you have to repeat the same monotonous pattern over a large batch of code.

My favorite use of AI in code so far has been refactoring deprecated feature flags. "Replace enableXYZFeatureFlag with true and optimize the code". Bam, 1-2 hours' worth of crunch work solved in minutes.

tiefling ,

It takes a long time because it hits a lot of files, not because it's logically complex. Also, that's why unit and integration tests exist.

tiefling ,

I do go file by file, but I just copy and paste the same query into each. It also gives me a chance to do a quick review before moving on. It's still a manual process but it's a HELL of a lot faster than manually refactoring.

(I can't give too many more details though since I use proprietary software that isn't public facing)

Just ask proud Zionist Gal Gadot what she thinks

Here's my view from NYC

nothing

tiefling ,

My perspective is slightly different since I'm a trans woman (have been for 10yr), but I was also raised by just my dad.

The main things I learned from him that have actually been useful are things like how to use a variety of tools and do basic handyman type jobs around my living space. I learned a lot of hard skills from him, but not so much soft skills. I can comfortably fix a toilet, patch a wall, or mount a TV. I also picked up the basics of firearms and engines from him, though I haven't had to use that knowledge yet. The things that have been useful that I had to learn on my own were how to cook, how to sew, and how to clean.

I wish he had let me explore my emotions a bit more. I learned to repress my feelings and now struggle with that a bit in adulthood.

The best advice I can give is to be open and give her space to talk about what's troubling her. Be an active listener, and don't shrug her off when she's sad or angry. Encourage her to learn hard skills that may be useful in the future, but also don't be hesitant to learn soft skills alongside her. Let her practice styling your hair or painting your nails if she wants to. Gender norms are outdated anyways. More than anything, love, respect, and trust her.

tiefling ,

My plan is to make Amish funeral pie with extra orange zest to celebrate the day the human shitstain finally croaks on his gold toilet. I invite others to as well.

(Don't let the raisins scare you, It's actually a really tasty pie)
