Just a post on !fediverse explaining the issue in a few lines. A link to the existing ticket. Ending with an open call for people who might be interested in forking the existing project.
I originally posted irregularly on a sub and when I asked a mod for help as to why my posts weren't being approved, he randomly banned me from the sub without asking. I messaged and he said in the future I will be allowed again, he said 30 days....
Isn't this what upvotes and downvotes are for? Do they only want posts about billionaire mega corporations? 10% is a really strict cutoff for people that make things as a hobby. What else am I gonna post when everything else is already posted instantly? I can't post to r/pcgaming for the same reason....
There needs to be actual content rules. TIL worked best when the mods actually adhered to those content rules. Otherwise you just have people posting all kinds of nonsense. Quality is better than quantity
I first joined Lemmy back during the big Reddit exodus of last year. I like many others wanted an alternative to Reddit, and I thought that this might've been the one. I made two accounts, one on lemmy.world and another on sh.itjust.works, in the June of last year that I used on and off for about 4 months....
Lemm.ee would probably be a good fit for you. They made again their stance for defederation very clear "Why defederation is extremely rare on lemm.ee" https://lemm.ee/post/35472386
In summary, people are getting organized to manage the handover from the current admin to the new organization (kind of a similar process to what happened to feddit.uk some time ago)
After a year online the free speech-focused instance 'Burggit' is shutting down. Among other motivations, the admins point to grievances with the Lemmy software as one of the main reasons for shutting down the instance. In a first post asking about migrating to Sharkey, one of the admins states:...
I feel like people already see me around a lot, I would avoid being "overexposed" if that makes sense.
Maybe someone with less activity on Lemmy would be better for that job?
At the end of the day, it's mostly to discuss with you guys how to present things to the audience, and being more present when issues like the CSAM issues arise, potentially even switching priorities to convey the message to the community that this issue was serious and that you were aware of it.
Again, I'm not saying you guys didn't do anything, but as always, it's mostly on how to communicate in a situation rather than having a look at what was done or not.

"Moderation tools are nonexistent on here. It also eats up storage like crazy [...] The software is downright frustrating to work with" - Can any other instance admins relate to this?

I was browsing the fediverse explorer and did not find lemmy.ml in the instances list.
