That's why they are advocating for a tax on those items as well. Makes them similarly priced to non-UPF options while also givign money to something useful like healthcare.
If the city cares about aaving money theu would be buying useless military hardware for the NYPD. Tokyo, Seoul, Jakarta, and Osaka all do fine without blowing massive amounts if the municipal budget on military gear for their police departments. The NYPD "officially' had a 2022 budget over $5billion with aroind 36,000 officers. That's comparable to the entire military budget of Romania. Hell, the NYPD has field offices in 6 foreign countries.
Kanye supposedly was before he lost all his endorsements for openly being a Nazi. Artists dont actually own any means of production so they can very quickly lose everything.
Kanye lost about 2/3rds of his net worth over night because Nike dropped the Yeezy brand. Being a partial owner of a niche brand is in no way comparable to someone like Musk who has controling interest in multiple market leading companies. Celebrity status can be leveraged to get a minority stake in a company, but minority owners can be forced out just as easily.
An easy way to do that is make the addition not flush, or use a different kind if masonry. The linked documentary includes an interview with the local planning council who recommended finding a local architect with expirience to do it.
Instead the chrap English bastard just used the cheapest options he could find in Essex and wore the council down to approve this monstrosity.
A very cavalier take until it's your wife/sister/friend that dies because she cant get to a maternity ward in time. As it stands, humanity will carry on if society were to collapse next week. But if we cant safely deliver babies without modern medicine, we are in aerious trouble.
No, but i do remember one of the options on the front page always being porn no matter what you searched. My middle school wanted us to use Yahoo search instead of google for pictures because it wouldn't show Rule 34 content.
Because they have strategic interests across the globe. From the Russian perspective, taking control of Ukraine would be great, but preventing them from intefrating into the EU and NATO is the real focus. Ukraine can't take back the occupied lands, and Russia will be able to l outlast Ukraine in an attritional war.
Nuclear weapons will lose all their remaining international support, as well as NATO launching full conventional strikes against every Russian military asset in the Black Sea and occupied Ukraine. Russia knows that use of tactical nuclear weapons will result in the total collapse of the Russian state, which is why theu are aonky going to use them if NATO troops coming knocking on the doors of St. Petersburg
Russia has repeatedly stated than NATO troops on Russian soil will result in nuclear strikes of NATO targets. Russia has seen two different apocalyptic invasions in the past 200 years, and they are committed to inflicting that onto any realized threats.
There is no scenario short of Russian invasion of a NATO country that will wee NATO forces enter Russia or Belarus. Any Western response will be conventional, but total, strikes if Russian military assets in the Black Sea and occupied Ukraine.
But there were still bots making shit up back then. r/SubredditSimulator was pretty popular for awhile, and repost and astroturfing bots were a problem form decades on Reddit.
I think it's because it costs an obscene amount while being something only a moron would buy. So when someone who is struggling to make ends meet sees that an absolute moron has so much cash that they can blow it on something this dumb, they get angry. It's not fair that they work hard just to make ends meet while some failson has $100k to blow on a dumb car. At least a Maserati, Porsche, or Ferrari of similar price looks cool.
There is slave labor at aome point in pretty much every product you use. The cotton used for your shirt, the cocoa in your chocolate bar, the strawberry you had in your salad today, all likely had forced labor to some degree. Even the cartoon you watched last night might have been animated bu some korean child.
A single wool t-shirt costs $50. I am struggling to scrape together food for for the week, and you expect me to pay $400 for enough shirts to get through the week? I really doibt you are actually going 2 weeks between washes on a single shirt, and if you are i feel sorry for anyone who has to interact with you. Some of us have jobs that get sweaty and dirty and cant wear the same getup multiple days in a row.
Yeah oir economy is so abstract that everything becomes subcontracted out to another firm. I have a product I can't make, so i give company X $2million to make it. They cant do it, so they give company Y$500,000 to make it. Company Y doesn't have the means, so they pay company Z $100,000 to make it. Company Z has the ability to make it, so they pay 2 dozen people in Cambodia $3 a day for a month to make all the units i need.
I would say that 90% of AI companies are fake. They are just running API calls to ChatGP-3, and calling themselves "AI" to get investors. Amazon even has an entire business to help companies pretend their AI works by crowdsourcing cheap labor to review data.
Why would i ask an LLM a question that i cant verify the accuracy of instead of just doing a traditional search of trusted resources? They give you the answer they think you want. Search engines don't want to crack down on SEO techniques because it will ultimately harm their business. But they can get around that by lighting a few acres of rainforest on fire, make up some random crap that sounds believable, and boost their stock price.
I'm sure that there are some niche use cases currently that can benefit from these programs, but most are just the next project for crypto grifters, and any legitimate uses are only really gonna be useful at commercial/industrial scale and won't be actually useful for the general public.
I'm not actually a nuclear fission company if i take millions of R&D investment, pay me amd my buddy half of it, and then pay a bunch of crackheads to pour diesel into an electric generator.
Depends. Some figures like MLK Jr, sure. Others like Hitler or Trump can't be replaced because the entire movement is a personality cult based on them. I'm not familiar with Slovakian politics, so I can't say what would uave happened of he had been killed.
We know how to drill holes in the US too. That's why Musk doesn't sell his tunnels to people who know what they are doing, but to morons on City Council who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.
As an example. I grew up in hip-hop but at a certain point I stopped listening to new people and realised recently that I’d slept on some bangers. Like Kendrick particularly, but even people like Juice WRLD and Xxxtentacion....
I like to listen to a new album every Friday. You're streaming platform will recommend "New Albums for you" and just listen to one. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it isn't, but it is new and fun to explore.

r/unpopularopinion was a shithole. Any sub called "realXYZ" "QRS2" or "TrueABC" is just the "free speech" version started by someone pissed that they got banned for using slurs, so I'm not surprised r/TrueUnpopularOpinion went to shit. I'm surprised you think it was decent at any point tbh.
Because said neoliberal order has soent the past 40 years crushing any criticism from the left and sowing the seeds for fascism. Corporations aren't going to give up all the power they have accumulated without a fight
That's the hope, but the liberals will crown the fascists rather than concede anything to the socialists. I'm not expecting any large socialist movement here in the US, and fully expect a fascist purging of all their "undesirables".
When Bloomberg reported that Spotify would be upping the cost of its premium subscription from $9.99 to $10.99, and including 15 hours of audiobooks per month in the U.S., the change sounded like a win for songwriters and publishers. Audio quality is better and they pay the artists the most of all the major streaing platforms. I've been using Tidal for 2 years and have been very happy with the switch
Oxidation really will fuck you up though. Oxygen is super corrosive and toxic. It's useful for cellular metabolism, but if it isn't carefully controlled it starts to mess with your tissues through oxidation chains and free radicals. That's why people push antioxidants so hard.
Also requiring as much energy as exists in the entire universe to generate said field. It's theoretically possible, but the math doesn't even let us pretend it's something we can actually accomplish.
The article is about sub-light speed. The Alcubierre drive is about a theoretical way to travel faster than the speed of light by hacking yoir surrounding space to move instead of you.
AI’s voracious need for computing power is threatening to overwhelm energy sources, requiring the industry to change its approach to the technology, according to Arm Holdings Plc Chief Executive Officer Rene Haas.
The current LLM'S kinda suck, but companies have fired huge swaths of their staff and plan in putting LLMs in their place. Either those companies hire back all those workers, or they get the programs to not suck. And making LLMs actually capable of working unsupervised will take more and more energy.
This is the level interest rates were 30 years ago and no one had issues buying houses then. Rates aren't the issues, people aren't getting oaid enough and have to compete with corporations for their basic necessities at this point

Flyleaf is such a curious band to me. They were essentially Creed for the 2000's wave of pop-punk, trying to lean into being a christian rock band without having to openly say so and face the negative perception that came with. I think they existed so kid in the suburbs who wasn't allowed to read Harry Potter or listen to Paramore could convince their mom to buy them the cd at Walmart on a Sunday morning after church. Lacry Sturm always tried to dodge having to call Flyleaf a christian rock band, but was also open about pushing Christian theology and playing at a lot of Christian rock festivals. It just always felt like they were trying to have it both ways, but their albums during the Bush years were very successful, so i guess it worked.
I listen to my local radio station (small town in NW Ohio) and they are a Golden Oldies station that plays so much Tom Jones, Bob Dylan, 5yh Dimension, The BeachBoys, and other fun hits from the 60's and 70's. So much fun music that has been pushed to the fringes iver the decades.
