Anything China wants becomes "disputed" so they have an excuse to act like bullies.

It's not just security that ruins an IT person's life. I had a customer decide to do a massive data migration from their primary data storage to a new system during the busiest time of day. It destroyed the primary, secondary, and backup systems as well as corrupting the destination system. It was a one-in-a-million bug/glitch that cost me 2 weeks of 16 hour days.

It's idiots in charge of IT that are the true source of our pain.

Downvotes are due to China shills and people who don't understand reality. EVERY post about Chinese EVs goes exactly the same way.

Some company heads hoped return-to-office mandates would make people quit, survey says ( arstechnica.com )

Nearly two in five (37 percent) managers, directors, and executives believe their organization enacted layoffs in the last year because fewer employees than they expected quit during their RTO. And their beliefs are well-founded: One in four (25 percent) VP and C-suite executives and one in five (18 percent) HR pros admit they...

I could walk away from my job today and the only thing people would notice is the email daemon. Going to keep cruising as far beneath the surface as I can and get that paycheck. Probably get some free AI training too.

It's exciting, but in the hands of morons (executives).

HP bricks ProBook laptops with bad BIOS delivered via automatic updates — many users face black screen after Windows pushes new firmware ( www.tomshardware.com )

On May 26, a user on HP's support forums reported that a forced, automatic BIOS update had bricked their HP ProBook 455 G7 into an unusable state. Subsequently, other users have joined the thread to sound off about experiencing the same issue....

It's not exactly buying them online:

A Chinese government agency established to promote trade with Russia has been trying to source drone detectors and jammers, adding to concerns that Beijing may be supplying dual-use technology to Moscow.

For some reason, the AI keeps making the drow look like a lightly tanned guy. I didn't put more than a couple minutes into it.

I watched an interview with her where she said they used CGI to slightly alter the actress(es?) playing her younger self to look more like her (grown up).

I skipped Dune 2 in theatre's. Watched it on Max last week. Why bother going to theatres?

He does longer format (i.e. 1+ hour) where there's much less animated energy but still lots of cursing. Some of them are interesting (because of the guests), but he's too full of himself and comes off as unlikable

I think ditching implies some control over the aircraft, versus straight crashing.

There is an old movie called "Mom and Dad Save the World." It's pure entertainment.

The planet is full of idiots and one of their most dangerous weapons is the light grenade. Anyone who picks it up disappears in a bright flash. So, why would anyone ever pick up this well-known weapon? Because it says "Pick me up" on the side.

Why Didn't Democrats Do More When They Controlled Both Houses of Legislature, The White House, and The Supreme Court During Obama's First Term?

I've been wondering for a bit why during the time the Democrats controlled the legislature, executive, and judicial branches during Obama's first term in 2008 more wasn't accomplished. Shouldn't that have been the opportunity to make Row V Way law and fix the electoral college? I understand the recession was going on but outside...
