The worst feature Apple announced at WWDC, and people are already copying it.

Chinese space firm unintentionally launches its new rocket ( arstechnica.com )

The rocket was undergoing a static fire test of the stage, in which a vehicle is clamped to a test stand while its engines are ignited, when the booster broke free. According to a statement from the company, the rocket was not sufficiently clamped down and blasted off from the test stand "due to a structural failure."...

aeronmelon ,

Gotta admire the rocket's enthusiasm.

Apple created HIEC for themselves. They use it within their own gargantuan ecosystem to their own, personal benefit and to the benefit of people all-in on Apple devices. When it's time to send it outside, they automatically gets converted to JPEG/MOV files.

They do not care if you like it or if you even use it.

Toy's R Us is, interestingly, still huge in Asia Pacific. In Japan, Babies R Us rivals other major childcare suppliers.

AI art = Derivative.

Al art = Derivative, yet somehow as good or even better than the original.

Playing out the same way as the HomePod. Over engineered and expensive, doesn't sell as well as they thought it would, R&D halts and reboots the product line with something much cheaper and easier to make.

Instead of Apple Vision Pro 2, expect an 'Air' model.

The mini is less prone to failure as the original, but I've heard a lot of people say that the sound is not that good.

There's a whole episode of The Cleveland Show (as in Cleveland Brown, the black character from Family Guy) where Cleveland gets upset at his neighbor friend for flying a Confederate flag on his house and finally tries to get rid of it. When he fails, he confronts the hick neighbor and calls him a racist. The neighbor doesn't understand why Cleveland is upset and when Cleveland points to the flag the neighbor says, "What, my Dukes of Hazard flag?"

Cleveland immediately realizes he approached the problem from the completely wrong angle and drops the matter indefinitely. They continue to be friends.

Faced with the realization we are powerless to stop it, we simply admire it.

Fat people in most countries: "I need to make sure I don't get so bad that I can't fit through this one-meter-wide door in a public building."

Fat people in America: "I'M SUING THE CITY UNTIL THEY MAKE A LAW THAT REQUIRES ALL DOORS TO BE TWO-METERS WIDE!!"

Edit: The meme insinuates that good healthcare would have prevented the disability, so the first disability that came to mind was obesity. My comment doesn't apply to everyone, obviously.

aeronmelon ,

Easily? Depends. But, yes, exercise does prevent and help heal quite a few disabilities.

Most vending machines take IC (the NFC-style top-up cards that Japan also runs on), but ALL vending machines take cash.

It should be possible to swap out the reader, but they might be built in such a way that the entire machine has to be taken away and cannot be serviced on-site for security's sake. I have never seen anyone servicing a vending machine in public.

This could be something that causes Japan to rethink its cash dependancy.

I thought that solar panels that old performed much worse or stopped working. Especially considering where the tech was in the 1990s.

The music video was done using the same computer-generated imagery program used to create the Money For Nothing video. It was the most expensive part of the movie.

Also, Dire Straits allowed the song parody on the condition that Mark Knopfler perform the guitar and Guy Fletcher perform the synthesizer. Which is why it sounds almost exactly like the original song and why the intro in particular feels so authentic.
