Have you tried pissing them instead?

user224 , to Ask Lemmy in Does the USA have any open market cellular options that are legitimate pay-as-you-go and only for what you use options like Europe yet?
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

The unlimited data plan offers 35GB at full 4G LTE/5G speed with 5GB of hotspot included. Data speed is reduced after 35GB.

Wow. Truly unlimited. And how much does it get reduced?

Let's check ToS.

Your data speed will be reduced to lower speeds once you have used 35 GB of data in a billing period.

Uh, huh. Very precise information.
Also...

New and existing customers on qualifying plans including data have streaming video optimization technology automatically applied to our plans, and video is delivered at a lower resolution (typically 480p) rather than at a higher resolution which is better suited for larger screens. This helps customers stretch their Data Plans by reducing the amount of high-speed data consumed for streaming video.

What, how? How does that work?

Anyway, I am probably spoiled by Swan (4ka) in Slovakia.
It is the 4th carrier, weakening oligopoly of T-Mobile, O2 and Orange since 2015.
I have their unlimited data plan, which is 300GB, not 35GB, nor 5GB on hotspot. Of that I used 220GB so far in this month (usually I do around 100GB though). €13/month for me, €15 for new customers.
I am not even sure if limiting hotspot usage could be a thing in Europe. It sounds stupid enough.

user224 , to Ask Lemmy in What song should I play for my bathroom neighbors?
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

(don’t actually unmute)

That still suggests the use of a camera.

user224 , (edited ) to Ask Lemmy in What song insinuates itself into all your playlists and why do you think it's there?
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

None. All my playlists are fully unique, mostly because I am too lazy to actually make playlists.

There is a partial exception to it with one song: Louis Armstrong - When the saints go marching in
That is because I have 2 versions of it. One I ripped from YouTube in the past and like it more, and one I ripped from CD. The latter I keep in separate directory for album completion, just like culture mix of Big in Japan by Alphaville. I don't like it, but I have rest of the album (also ripped from CD by myself).

I do have playlists, I almost never listen to full albums (nearly all songs I download individually), but I do that by categorizing new songs into the most fitting directory, and that's it.

user224 , to Ask Lemmy in What do you just not give a single fuck about that so many people try to make you give a shit about?
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Newly released music.
I have access to internet, not just decades, but centuries of music. Why should I need to know the songs released this year? It's just a drop in the ocean. I don't need to have the newest music right away.

Similarly with new movies.

user224 , to Technology in T-Mobile imposes $5 monthly price hike on customers using older plans
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Isn't that usually what happens though?

5G is the new best thing, people jump on 5G, 5G gets overloaded decreasing its speeds while 4G gets unloaded increasing its speeds.

Same thing it was with 4G, which is why I kept using 3G until start of 2024 when it got shut down here.

user224 , to Technology in People want 'dumbphones'. Will companies make them?
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Definitely wouldn't want a dumbphone. Rather the opposite, like a super-smartphone, something like Raspberry Pi inside my pocket (PinePhone may be getting there).

This post got me to try installing Jellyfin server in Termux under proot, only to realize it's fairly useless for random videos and then wipe it 5 minutes later, but anyway that's the kind of things I do/want to do with my phone.
And hell, I'd definitely want a keyboard attachment like the PinePhone has.

Hmm, I just realized I paid more per envelope than per blank DVD.

Well, I was just thinking that I'd rather give them out for free, or the price of DVD + Case. So I thought I could save on cases by putting them in envelopes, but then I realized I paid 10¢ per SL DVD of which I have like 50 left and 23¢ per C5 envelope.
Kinda wild.

Although they are fairly low quality.

Not likely, but there's hope.

What do you use ADB for?

Since adb backup has been deprecated, I don't see much use for it. Only for recent Android versions which disallow installation of apps targeting low API, as that can be bypassed using ADB.
Or maybe for apps like scrcpy.
