It's very depending on which apk you want. If you only want the apk of one specific open source app, just check on fdroid or on their git (mostly on github). And if you want play store apps without installing Aurora store, just use ApkMirror (their apks are mostly clean, cleaner than Apkpure in any case..).

foremanguy92_ ,

First, you use Lemmy, that's great. But pls use a client without ads....

foremanguy92_ ,

Bro why using Lemmy if it's for using proprietary client? Voyager, Jerboa, you have others choice...

foremanguy92_ ,

Maybe but not only, for phone I recommend an app that's much more optimized for using on mobile

foremanguy92_ ,

Maybe but you've done the transition to Lemmy try to use a libre client

foremanguy92_ ,

For sure! Personally I prefer using the app

foremanguy92_ ,

Who is he?

foremanguy92_ ,

Why does he done it with ads?

foremanguy92_ ,

I'm okay with him earning money to live, but put ads is absolutely not something to do. Donate to him, etc. But you shouldn't use an app with ads

Meta train open llms, only big techs can train AI... Go pursuit OpenAI or Google and leave Meta (I'm really not a fan of Meta but their "open" AIs are great examples of good works) do their work!

foremanguy92_ ,

There is ONE problem, the parents.

You shouldn't disallow everything in your state... The parents should be educated about it and say stop to their kids, these days parents are submerged by all the techs stuff and they don't understand anything. Sadly. The problem is more global, even 20-25 years old adults do nothing about their days because they doom-scroll... This shouldn't be banned (but yeah the companies behind it are evil to do some evil stuffs), after they will banned everything.

foremanguy92_ ,

Great choice, now do not say the same thing next year!

foremanguy92_ OP ,

I would like to access to my server only trough the proxy, like if I put my real IP I end up with nothing, but if I put the proxy IP it show me my server

foremanguy92_ OP ,

Simply to protect my home server from attacks, and serve the content only with the remote server in a datacenter

foremanguy92_ OP ,

But I need to configure something on the client side... I want people to access my server as they access their Instagram account

foremanguy92_ OP ,

If I want to host my services to the internet, I need to open a port in my firewall nah? is that not a bit risky than only allow access from the address of the data center to use this open port?

Apple is bringing RCS to the iPhone in iOS 18 | The new standard will replace SMS as the default communication protocol between Android and iOS devices ( www.theverge.com )

The long-awaited day is here: Apple has announced that its Messages app will support RCS in iOS 18. The move comes after years of taunting, cajoling, and finally, some regulatory scrutiny from the EU....

foremanguy92_ ,

I don't know if it's a good thing... To use RCS you have to use a compatible OS + device and use the google messages app (maybe also the Samsung one now) and why does the brand implemented this is because google "offered" the servers to run this protocol. I think even today the best way is to get onto secure messaging apps (like Signal, Session, SimpleX...)

foremanguy92_ ,

My opinion is that if you don't have not much money to spend into video games that's okay to pirate it, but try to encourage the creators by donating or just say thanks!

EU approval for chat control ( www.patrick-breyer.de )

We need to do something against this. The EU plans to apply a law for a chat control in the territory. The approval say that all the chats and the emails would be send to the government to do AI scanning to in fact “find the children abuses”, even when using apps with end-to-end encryption (the EU will ask the services to...

Wait what? $4 billions worth of h100 🙃 such a funny guy...

ChatGPT Answers Programming Questions Incorrectly 52% of the Time: Study ( gizmodo.com )

The research from Purdue University, first spotted by news outlet Futurism, was presented earlier this month at the Computer-Human Interaction Conference in Hawaii and looked at 517 programming questions on Stack Overflow that were then fed to ChatGPT....

foremanguy92_ ,

We have to wait a bit to have an useful assistant (but maybe something like copilot or more coded focused ai are better)

foremanguy92_ ,

Using SearX instance and cannot find bing results 🤨

foremanguy92_ ,

What are your browser config and settings?
(Extensions, settings, about:config...)

foremanguy92_ ,

Maybe for app banking app (and even...), it could be understanding but for instagram, NEVER! Even for security reason... Bro they don't care about anything on their network, allow soft porn and all that kind of stuff. And after all of that they are going to come to say that it is for security reasons 😂 Stay on the "libre" web, Lemmy is a great start! 👌

foremanguy92_ ,

And government website already know who you are

foremanguy92_ OP ,

The Lenovo P500 has 64gb RAM, 12 vcores for as low as $135, and it seems a bit power efficient
The onlydownside is that the PSU is a bit strange (hard to find)

foremanguy92_ OP ,

Searching on my "national used marketplace", but do you have some recommandations? I don't care about the specs mostly the power draw..

foremanguy92_ OP ,

I would prefer to not because a mini PC is not good for upgrade, has no space, not so fast and it's not so low priced

foremanguy92_ OP ,

I don't want the people approval, just I want to know if some others alternatives exists to make sure that I start my homelab with a good setup

foremanguy92_ OP ,

In fact I've found pretty nice deal with 128gb and 24vcores at $160, the only downside is that it's a proliant dl380 g8 m, so it's going to be noisy and power hungry

foremanguy92_ OP ,

Yeah it's me again because I wanna to make sure that I will buy the right thing for my homelab journey (don't wanna spend money uselessly)

foremanguy92_ OP ,

I'm going to check the German article but maybe that's a bit above my budget.

How do you think that I could reach 20W with the P500?

I have a very low budget but you know, I don't want to get that kind of laptop or mini pc (due to their lack of upgradability), I don't necessarily want 10W power draw only want to not idle at more than 70...

I want to have at least 6 SATA ports (could upgrade it with a pcie card later) and some pcies ports. In fact if the machine is around $150 but has terrible power efficiency I wouldn't choose this thing. So I want to both 😅 but if a machine would be great and has lower specs that I was expected I would take it anyways.

foremanguy92_ OP ,

Humm ok, maybe trying to find a sff PC (don't want a mini PC)

foremanguy92_ OP ,

That's exactly why I didn't buy it, and I don't need so much specs, just something more power efficient with lower specs, so if you have some recommandations...

foremanguy92_ ,

Using https://phtn.app don't know if it's the best... But I'm using it 😊

Welcome in the world of the penguin! 🐧🐧

foremanguy92_ ,

The application of the AI into this subject will be really important but for now, with a bit of determination, humans are better

foremanguy92_ OP ,

Bro think about used part and I don't need 7200mhz ddr5
