The terrible thing about these isn't the fake orange juice combined with rot gut vodka, it's that (at least in my area) they want twelve freaking dollars for this shit. That's three bucks a can!

You could literally buy an entire jug of not-orange juice as well as a 750 ml bottle of vodka for less.

Sephiroth. His look is basically the most generic bishy anime character you can make, his entire backstory can be boiled down to "mommy issues" and his motivations are the standard villain "destroy world/become god". He's just so bland.

There's been research that language shapes how we perceive the world around us. Because there was no word for "blue" there was no concept of blue, the color still existed but their brains just lumped it into "green". Sight works by the visual centers brain taking data from the eyes, throwing most of it out, then building a model which is what the rest of the brain gets to actually "see". That's why optical illusions work.

A commonly cited source for language shaping our perception of color is Jules Davidoff's studies on the Himba tribe. The Himba have no word for blue, and they struggled to pick out the blue square from this color wheel. However, they do have many distinctions for shades of green so when given this color wheel they could easily pick out the square that's a different shade of green (and yes I opened it in MSpaint to check and one of the green squares is a different shade.)

Yeah... but Trump has pretty effectively run it's respectability into the ground.

I think that last thing is a sink. In fact, it appears to be the only sink in the kitchen, picture trying to use that thing to wash some crud off a pan or something.

GPT-4o’s Chinese token-training data is polluted by spam and porn websites ( www.technologyreview.com )

Of the 100 results, only three of them are common enough to be used in everyday conversations; everything else consisted of words and expressions used specifically in the contexts of either gambling or pornography. The longest token, lasting 10.5 Chinese characters, literally means “_free Japanese porn video to watch.” Oops....

Because these tokens are not actual commonly spoken words or phrases, the chatbot can fail to grasp their meanings. Researchers have been able to leverage that and trick GPT-4o into hallucinating answers or even circumventing the safety guardrails OpenAI had put in place.

Google's Gemini doesn't seem to like some of these tokens either, I threw "Please translate the following text: _日本毛片免费视频观看" into it and it returned "我没法提供这方面的帮助,因为我只是一个语言模型。" which according to Google translate is "I can't help with that because I'm just a language model." It will however translate the error message just fine.

Nah, Lincoln was thinner and less... bulbous. This guy looks more like Roger from American Dad roleplaying a used car salesman.

"Country threatens to kill civilians unless terrorists do as they say" Yeah, I'd say that's not gonna work, but the whole point of this ultimatum is to justify the slaughter of Palestinians.

In the long run it'll probably work out for Hamas too. Watching friends and family get murdered will probably radicalize a lot of folks and drive up recruitment.

Windows 10 is pretty crappy but tolerable, everything I've seen about 11 suggests it's a utter shit show.

That opens up the possibility of vegan cheese, butter, etc. but as true dairy products.

There actually are vegan dairy-ish products out there. Several startups have inserted the gene for casein (the main protein in milk) into yeast. So you just harvest the casein, add a little bit of some sort of fat and sugar and you have something that's 99% the same as milk, and can be used in the same sorts of processes.

The only product that I've actually tried was some Brave Robot ice cream, which was well... ice cream.
