Happy Monday, all! New podcast episode (Ep. 9) dropped this morning.

We have this great podcast producer who writes the introductory copy, so here's how she summarized it!

"In this insightful episode of "In the Kaleidoscope," Laura and Carrie explore the complexities of lying from both neurodivergent and neurotypical perspectives. Laura shares experiences with the concept of absolute truth and how Laura's autistic brain perceives reality, while Carrie reflects on her journey through advertising and the art of truth-telling. Together, they delve into the nuances of subjective reality, the impact of context on truth, and the challenges of understanding and detecting lies. This episode provides a deep dive into the multifaceted nature of truth and the importance of empathy in communication."

Sounds fancy, doesn't it? LOL. It's really just the two of us talking. Let me know what you think if you give it a listen.

Hi, friends,

Newest episode (#8) of just dropped. In this one, we jump off of a terrific video I saw on TikTok that talks about how us NDs answer to our values while often NTs answer to their group. Which explained a lot of our often cross-purposes to me. Interesting to get my daughter's NT perspective as well. Give it a listen if you want.

I love Unmasking Autism. I've now read almost the first half and there's this constant flow of "that's me!", "oh!" and "wtf?!" from my part.

Part about learning certain characteristics being unwanted and masking by overcompensating for them was especially revealing. Things that really resonated:

"Pretending I didn't know the answers to questions" and "Keeping silent when people said things that weren't true" in order not to appear arrogant.

"Solving problems by myself" and "Not getting 'too excited' about anything, including good things" in order not to appear annoying and loud.

"Nodding or laughing, even when I have no idea what's going on" in order not to appear clueless and pathetic.

"Not voicing my needs" in order not to appear sensitive.

I'm in this picture and I don't like it... It's not that I recognize ever being certain things but I recognize overcompensating.

Newest episode of went up on Monday. A podcast wherein ND parent (me) and NT adult child (her) discover stuff about each other.

We got to a really interesting place. I'm fascinating with what I'm learning about her. And she says she always wanted to be autistic. Well, we didn't have that word back then. But she wanted to be like me. To have a brain like mine. Which I guess is a usual thing for a kid to want? To be like their parent? But how much she wanted it surprised me. That she even noticed what my brain was like surprised me. Anyway, give it a listen.

Any autistic artists who are also book lovers want to create some t-shirt designs for me?

Book loving and writing themes.

It’s for Autistic Bookshop.

30% from the authors book sales alone is nowhere near enough to break even (need 500 books sold a month), so added merch.

Example below.

@actuallyautistic

All I need is my cat and a good book t-shirt in a pink color
I am always writing a story in my head t-shirt in a navy color

Hiya! I know I've been somewhat incognito since joining here, but now I'm launching a project that will show more of who I am.

It's a podcast I started with my daughter about being a parent with a child. We talk about how the world was when I was raising her a million years ago and the things I wish I'd known then that I know now as a newly self-discovered person.

If anyone wants to give it a listen, I'd love to know what you think! There are four episodes so far. We are just getting started.
