According to Anders Puk Nielsen https://www.youtube.com/@anderspuck, Russia is probably peaking right now, because they have transitioned to war time economy, and they are restoring old Soviet equipment.
The problems for Russia are that their industrial output is declining, despite heavy public investments, in part because of sanctions, and in part because of worker shortage, and their Soviet equipment reserves are dwindling.
Hopefully the situation will get worse for Russia quickly, among other things they are allegedly beginning to experience an oil shortage now. Due to the strategic bombing from Ukraine.
So while Ukraine is hard pressed currently, time is most likely on the side of Ukraine. Which is contrary to what Putin counted on, when he bet the West would quickly tire of supporting Ukraine.

Buffalox ,

Yes US logistics is legendary, I'm guessing units at the front are getting better equipped already, but it probably takes time to fill the gap of months of shortages.

Buffalox ,

China is trying to win over USA and Europe now, receiving visit from Blinken of the US administration, and visiting France and other European countries. So I don't think China is all interested in supporting Russia more than what the west can stomach.
Winning a piss poor economy of 120 million Russian citizens, compared to about 1 billion people in the west with more money is kind of an economic no-brainer.
Also the Russian declining output means a declining economy, and so does declining oil exports. So Russia's ability to pay is declining, and I doubt China feel Russia is a good enough ally to sacrifice their interests in the west, and pay for it too.
But no doubt if China wanted to create problems for us, they could create huge problems by supporting Russia. But it's kind of a lose lose scenario with little if not negative political gain.
Putin made a major miscalculation, and I don't think China want to hang on to that.

Buffalox ,

Yes they did, or at least that's what they claim.

That doesn't even make any sense.

Despite the US aid package, Ukraine will merely be able to hold the frontline. What's so weird about that?

Buffalox ,

Services reached its highest result ever, with a 14% increase over the same period last year.

Apple still manages to make people spend more money on their phones even when they aren't buying new ones.

Buffalox ,

Apparently Ukraine has received new ATACMS, and have used them against Russian training camps, taking out 100's of Russian soldiers without a single loss to Ukraine with those attacks. 😀 👍
This is what we need more of, and hopefully we will get it, as both US and Europe is scaling up aid.

Buffalox ,

Macron said "if Russia decided to go further, we will in any case all have to ask ourselves this question"
"I have a clear strategic objective: Russia cannot win in Ukraine," Macron said.

This is significant way beyond France, because France has huge political influence in Europe, and Macron saying this legitimizes if other countries are considering the same.

Buffalox ,

They have a combined population of 6 million, so not big even combined, but big enough to help make a difference.
Just like they are helping with lots of aid to Ukraine, despite being small countries, their efforts make a difference.

Buffalox ,

Absolutely, the Baltic countries have been very strong contributors already, they are 100% sure lifting above their own weight.

Buffalox OP ,

Russia’s gas exports to Europe, once its primary export market, have slumped because of the political fallout from the conflict in Ukraine, while Gazprom, which has a monopoly on piping gas abroad, has been the most tangible victim of western sanctions.

Ha Putin, you bet the sanctions work! Remember this is how bad it was in 2023, this year will probably be way worse after Ukraine has also begun to take out depots and refineries. Rumors are that Russia is beginning to lack oil to service both their population and the war!
The oil industry is by far the biggest earner for Russia, so Gazprom posting such a bad result can only mean the Russian economy is feeling some real hurt from the sanctions.

Buffalox OP ,

Absolutely, but Ukraine hadn't really begun to do that for fiscal year 2023. So this year will be even worse.

Buffalox ,

Putin: "Sanctions will hurt you more than it will hurt us."
2 years later, one of Russia's most profitable companies has a huge deficit due to sanctions.
LOL

Google "connecting 2 computers with USB"

If you have two PCs with USB ports, you can connect them to one another using a special type of USB cable called a “bridging” cable. You can also technically connect two Macs via USB, but you'll need to add a USB-to-Ethernet adapter and Ethernet cable to the mix.

There are also articles about it:
https://hardwaresecrets.com/connecting-two-pcs-using-a-usb-usb-cable/

We do it routinely with our phones (some of us), I admit IDK why it can't be just as easy between 2 computers?

Buffalox ,

Fingers vegetables and what have you. The hood took out 5 carrots at once with no effort!!!

Buffalox ,

IDK Musk is taking pretty drastic action, but I suspect that will make it fail faster.
They need to fire more people IMO, but only 1 more.

Buffalox ,

Huawei used to make elegant phones IMO, but goddam that's an ugly phone.

Buffalox ,

A month more of this and it could already be 500k personnel lost for Russia. But I really hope Ukraine is able to keep casualties way way lower than that, they need to beat Russians at a ratio of 1:4 to match Russia, which is a gargantuan task. Last year it seemed like Ukraine was actually able to do this, and I really hope American weapons aid will help enable them to do it again.

On the Russian side, according to Anders Puk Nielsen, Russia is probably peaking just about now, with full military economy, and programs for mass repair and preparation of equipment from the Soviet times.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W8tio3Ougw

But Russian industrial production capability is declining, and old equipment will run out eventually, so theoretically at least, time should be on the side of Ukraine. But of course it's horrible that Ukrainians have to go through this, especially since everybody tried to appease Russia to avoid it.

Buffalox ,

If he really wants to cut costs, he only needs to fire 1.
Musk is absolutely frantic because he didn't get his $56 billion bonus, he is all over the place, promising things that are impossible and insane, expecting us to still believe it, despite his many lies previously.
The Tesla bot Optimus can already do practical work, he claims while not being able to show anything but a bot that looks like it's shitting its pants, while it walks slowly looking like it's about to trip for every step.
Also the RoboTAXI is now only months away, despite he is barely able to show a car navigating a parking lot.
Elon Next Year Musk is a wannabe on AI, he is so far behind it's only funny when he makes his ridiculous claims.

How much was it he claimed you could make buying a Tesla 3? AFAIK it was $200,000 Because full self driving was ready NOW, and you could make money buying a Tesla. Why is he not sued to oblivion for those claims?

Edit: Corrected bot from Xai to Tesla, Xai makes grok which is an "I can do that too" LLM.

Buffalox ,

Yes it's an absolutely insane amount.

Buffalox ,

I hear masochistic genocidal overlord

I think you mean sadistic.

Buffalox ,

Thanks for posting these numbers, they are a daily reminder of the enormous costs of this war, and that we need to continue to support Ukraine against the continued pressure from Russia.

Court upholds New York law that says ISPs must offer $15 broadband ( arstechnica.com )

Trade groups claimed the state law is preempted by former Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai's repeal of net neutrality rules. Pai's repeal placed ISPs under the more forgiving Title I regulatory framework instead of the common-carrier framework in Title II of the Communications Act....

Buffalox ,

Is there a quality requirement? Because without that it's a pretty useless law.

Buffalox ,

It's insane that Russia insists on continuing this self destructive behavior. With USA back in the game, and Europe steadily increasing aid too, things are finally looking up a bit for Ukraine.
Hopefully Russia will fall apart, as people realize the situation there is getting increasingly worse for no good reason.

Buffalox ,

Weren’t people estimating a 2007 end for Tesla bc they haven’t been working on new models? They put their efforts into the meme “truck”

What? How is that supposed to make any kind of sense?

Buffalox ,

Nestle is a notorious scumbag company, personally I have avoided anything Nestle all my life, since when I grew up, there were already news about illegally bad quality/harmful formula food. I have NEVER heard a good thing about that company.

Buffalox ,

I think he needed a new talking point. I don't think most people believe he will have Starship preparing a base on Mars in 2022 anymore.
Starship hasn't even achieved orbital speed yet, and that was despite trying without a payload.
Elon musk is high on drugs and himself, and has completely lost it.

Buffalox ,

Ah OK, I just heard they didn't, and thought it was because they couldn't.

Still considering he claimed they'd be to Mars 2 years ago, and have manned flights to Mars this year, it's obvious he hasn't got a very solid plan for how or when to actually do it.

Buffalox ,

so far they seem to be able to deliver

Not as far as I know, what was it? SpaceX would make space travel 1000 times cheaper! Some ridiculous shit like that, and we'd soon have tourism on Mars. You have to be on freaking mushrooms to take anything about SpaceX seriously. Somehow they got a NASA contract, and I think they are beginning to regret that.

Buffalox ,

My guess is Apple will be heavily fined for making a bad faith effort.

Buffalox ,

I’m almost expecting Apple to deliberately self-sabotage iOS in the EU somehow just to make a point.

Please PLEASE let them do that, hopefully they will lose market share, and it will spread to other regions too, how awful iPhones really are.
Maybe we can even get some more serious regulation to reign in the giant tech companies.

Buffalox ,

I don't get it, how does depositing a check become a police matter?
PS: It says cash first and deposit further down, I'm assuming deposit must be the correct part.

Edit: PPS. I know there is racism and this happens in USA, but the amount of amateur hour from the Banks procedure, to the people working there and the police responding to a non issue is mind numbing for a person coming from Denmark, where banks are run professionally, and the police almost is too.

GAZA: 3,195 children killed in three weeks surpasses annual number of children killed in conflict zones since 2019 ( www.savethechildren.net )

Since October 7, more than 3,257 children have been reported killed, including at least 3,195 in Gaza, 33 in the West Bank, and 29 in Israel, according to the Ministries of Health in Gaza and Israel respectively. The number of children reported killed in just three weeks in Gaza is more than the number killed in armed conflict...

Buffalox ,

Yet some people still claim Israel is the victim! When the truth is that Israel is a terrorist state.

Buffalox ,

Obviously there are individual victims, but as a nation Israel is mostly responsible as those who have all the power.

Buffalox ,

They are using way superior power only to oppress, that's why they have more responsibility.
