Ok going out on a limb here.
I know everyone process dealing and handling loss of a loved one is different and perhaps difficult to talk about.
This week my cousin died who was practically an uncle as far as age. I don’t know how many of you have traced your autistic own family tree. I’ve kind of made it a pet project.
My question is does anyone else find funeral homes so weird and 🤔 panic inducing both thinking of going and going.
@stevewfolds@actuallyautistic I tried with my cousin. I and my partner and my mother all of us have been healing ourselves from trauma and burnout. I wouldn’t say heal, but we are finding methods that are working to heal as much as possible from the trauma and it’s working. I just couldn’t handle another person coaching them. The three of us cross train. I just feel like they are gone now and If I was stronger not stretched. I could maybe turned it around.

Well largely because of consensus on propagation to relatives and environmental variables that exacerbate symptomatic expression aren’t aligned. Most are some aren’t.
My therapist says I’m doing more in my local community for advocating for awareness and acceptance. Ultimately it’s hard enough to just do that. Seeing suffering is soo painful to me.

That is so kind of her. Everyone has their own way if they do care. My mother told her relatives what she wants and If I’m around still😅. I will honor her wishes for cremation and everyone doing thier own thing and rather then funeral she’s telling people instead of flowers please donating to local autism awareness(Non-autism speaks) thank you!
@roknrol@actuallyautistic See that’s the problem. My doctor knows and knows the family. He’s got enough on his plate and has his own neurodivergent family issues. It’s just 😔
I do understand the fragility of mind bending an early late dx brings and a person lives, to me, was like frolicking through tall maze rose bushes.
Yes freeing beautiful serene, smells great however my body is bloody from the scars of it. Some can brush off the blood, heal the wounds. Others well..

Unfortunately, I used to go masked. Typically there would be an entourage and I was the distraction so the rest of them could be comfortable. The buffer. I did it because I thought that’s what people did. I felt bad either way going not going.
My personal thing is if I value people I want to spend time with them in my life while they are alive and treasure those memories. When they pass, all I know is I’m genuinely grateful to have them in my life

No not trying to out them Kevin lol….not into outing them…What I’m saying is when you have a family member who self dx or is dx shouldn’t there be some sort of packet that explains to relatives what it looks like what it feels like how it can affect you symptomatically as you age , how it can impact other health areas etc
Like when a baby is born a care package. I mean you miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.

lol sounds great! I love the people I love very deeply and enjoy them. If I was a relative I would attend. I may have to take an edible to go if it’s a lot of people. It mellows me out…

💜. I especially advocate for female autism because they are the highest masked. Some are so socially confused by the time they realize why. They actually completely change as people. Why? Well it changes how you see and interact with the world.
The lgbtqapn community mostly seems to be playing telephone on the subject. So I’m at least relieved one group is in the advance team.
