What is this about? That the firewall is missing by default?

NoInterest , in superfile - A pretty fancy and modern terminal file manager

Those who don’t know Norton Commander are condemned to reinvent it.

redrumBot , in Are there still any versions of Linux sold in a box like in the 90s / 2000s?

Debian has a list of vendors who sell it in a media (USB, DVD...), some of them also sell other distros.

antsu , in Can't figure out how to get Plank working on Wayland

Just echoing what others said, Plank does not run on Wayland. You can install the "Dash to Dock" Gnome extension for a very similar experience (minus widgets).
If using KDE, consider replacing Guake (which is GTK) with Yakuake (Qt).

OpenSUSE is. Maybe SUSE also but not sure.

Presi300 , in Stable, consistent workstation recommendations?

I'd say that if you want a stable, "just works" experience, try fedora. It's the only distro I've had truly 0 issues or complications with...

What are corporate users using?

Windows on PCs, Linux is used mostly only on servers (RedHat/SuSe), hardware brands are usually HP, Dell and Lenovo.

I think that is my standard

Why? Do you expect companies to ask you to use your own PC for work instead of providing the tools you need? Be wary of those who do, using whatever personal PC for company work can lead to data breaches and that's a very serious problem.

HakFoo , in Extremely positive experience with Waydroid

I had a similar positive experience with Gamescope, which tamed a game that freaked out every time I moved the moude onto the other monitor.

Maybe Wayland's healthy place is as a secondary window system you launch inside your normal X11 session.

I think a part of your positive experience is also thanks to Linux. Android emulation works better on it because the difference between Linux and Android is not that big and definitely not as big as between Windows and Android. Though Waydroid rocks anyways

It took a long long time until Android emulators on Linux worked even close to what has been available on Windows.

I just tried it 3 days ago on Fedora 40,
Did not run for me.

Followed their wiki

How did you setup?

mfat OP ,

I don't remember tbh. I installed it a couple of years ago but used it for the first only recently.

GTG3000 , in superfile - A pretty fancy and modern terminal file manager

Ah, Midnight Commander, how have I missed you.

NateNate60 , in LibreOffice 7.6.7 Is Here as the Last Update in the Series, Upgrade to LibreOffice 24.2

TIL the version numbering scheme changed. LibreOffice 24 is the next major version after LibreOffice 7.

glans , in Are there still any versions of Linux sold in a box like in the 90s / 2000s?

Do you want the box to display or a hard copy of the installer?

If the latter I'm sure I've seen them for sale in the past couple of years on distro websites. Click "get [distro]" and its some secondary item to downloading which is what most people went. Might be a USB key or disc.

If you want an actual box idk how they are shipped.

OmgItBurns , in Are there still any versions of Linux sold in a box like in the 90s / 2000s?

I'm not aware of anything. Why are you looking, maybe there is something similar out there.
