Many US based websites are no longer displaying content to Europeans, since they can't legally harvest data. Youtube, Instagram and other websites/apps playing licensed content are also increasingly disregarding countries where licenses are expensive and/or revenue is low.
I'd really look into getting a good VPN. Mullvad ($5/month) is awesome, or else Proton in the free tier (can't pick the server but get one assigned at random, might need to restart to get one in a useful location).
Ding Ding Ding! :) Wine racks, shelves with crates for flower bulbs, potatoes and other root vegetables... Which will mean we have to secure the entry, our (lovely) elderly neighbor has already mentioned coming over at night for a drink ^^
But it will probably serve as a tool shed for the coming year until we have the rest of the garden levelled and laid out, it's the first of many projects, we will come back to it for the aesthetics (lime render, floor tiling, door, outside cladding...).
We were lucky, as our neighbor who is also renovating offered the steps of his old staircase. I modelled the thing in SketchUp to be able to measure all the angles and dimensions. We then made templates out of plywood for the 2 kinds of segments and used a flush router bit to reproduce the shape.
I'm old. Once upon a time 'screen savers' were used for ..saving screens, I swear it's the truth :-) I would've bet money on screensavers disappearing when CRT monitors did, but that certainly did not happen. It exploded. I kind of expect that someone by now have created a screensaver ..plugin for another screensaver..
Not picking on you, just feeling old suddenly. I tried searching for 2024 all-time insane screensavers but only found this 13yo one from vsauce: iv.melmac.space/watch?v=zwX95UaKCRg
..but I'm curios what have happened in 13 years, so if any lurkers know better search-fu, please add..
Michael looks so tame in that Video from 2011 compared to nowadays :D
I used a CRT monitor for maybe 3-5 years in my childhood until LCD took over which didn't necessarily need to be saved from burn in (until oled reintroduced this issue lol), but I remember the good old pipes buildup or the labyrinth screensavers from Windows 95/98. We were fascinated by these as children.
This 'screensaver' won't be able to save anything though. It's a static image with enormous contrast and sharp edges, so worst case scenario. Screensavers have become more of an art form or way to express oneself (or opinions like with this one i guess). Steam has a pretty extensive library for backgrounds and screensavers i think. Im just not a fan of too much movement on my screen. My eyes are kind of spoiled by high refresh rates and true color oled displays, but that being said, images on an e-ink display just hit different. It almost looks like its printed.
Copyleft is great, i use it for code or bigger stuff i publish. I just thought it would be funny as hell if someone down the line wants to change the license or use this commercially.
My party has recently murdered the 2 wealthiest people in this capital. Both had huge mansions. Incidentally they were both undead so they got a reward.
Not both houses, just the smaller one. Generally the liege Lord doesn't allow people to claim his fiefs as spoils for killing nobility.
It all began as a "quick and easy project to learn the ropes before making the bigger construction elements" (retaining wall, stair, maybe pool even), and then we started looking at hobbit houses, fancying nicer materials, adding an alcove... It now feels like it will be the most complicated thing in the whole garden ^^'
Were you planning to bury a life-size skeleton wearing a construction worker’s outfit nearby?
Oh thank you! I will make weekly progress updates on the project 👍
The cellar is at the furthest corner of the property and therefore must be completed first, so we can haul the building materials. The neighboring plots are 3m (10ft) higher so it's tucked cleanly in a corner that would have been useless otherwise.
It's 2.75m wide, 3.75m long and the middle is 2.35m high.
The vaulted ceiling will be completely buried, and the front entryway will be cladded with wood in the style a hobbit hole. The details aren't set in stone yet, we take a challenge at a time.
