I've been using FX File Browser for the occasional need to share stuff localy - it opens a local web server where you can browse files on the phone.
Though it's not foss and I am afraid that functionality is behind the plus version.

Check that your account is not marked as a bot (in your account settings).
Accidentally turned that on few days ago and all kind of stuff appeared broken after that.

Am I the only one preferring low quality media over high quality one?

I have a very slow Internet connection (5 Mbps down, and even less for upload). Given that, I always download movies at 720p, since they have low file size, which means I can download them more quickly. Also, I don't notice much of a difference between 1080p and 720p. As for 4K, because I don't have a screen that can display 4K,...

Great wizard of the bitrates, grant me your wisdom...

I can't wrap my head around bitrate - if I have a full hd monitor and the media is in full hd then how is it that the rate of bits can make so much difference?
If each frame in the media contains the exact 1920 × 1080 pixels beamed into their respective positions in the display then how can there be a difference, does it have to do something with compression?

MAS is open-source meaning anyone with the skill can verify what the powershell code does. This does not mean it's absolutely safe and trustworthy but does give it a big plus.

(the way I understand it is that) It also uses a loophole in the free upgrades from older win versions to 10/11 to get you a valid license from Windoze servers directly - it is not a keygen or cracker.

So, I will vouch for MASgrave but care has to be taken to download it from the official site/repository.

Testing if VRR is active and working

I recently updated to fedora 40 and enabled the experimental setting to get VRR running. But I am an idiot who has been playing at frames rates between 30-60 on screens without VRR for almost all of my life so I can't even know if VRR is actually working or not. Is there some rest I can run to see if VRR is functional¿? If not,...

Also afaik it only works in fullscreen on Linux (and in programs that support it).

Yeah NX is probably not going to be an easy one to implement.

Scrolling down to NX Derivatives And Forks will quickly get you a picture about the state and licenses.

Haven't tried LFS yet but I have had my share of compiling custom Arch kernel (basically just making it smaller and boot a little bit faster), or cross-compiling various stuff for embedded and having to crawl through some of the lower level stuff.
It might be that time of a year to give LFS a try now that you mention it.

Only people at .world won't see it. You can look at a post from different instance by pasting the URL into the search field of that instance (and if the instance does not have that post yet because of no subscribers or slow federation then you might have to wait a bit and try again).

Welcome to federation, where basically every instance is a proxy to all others.

Btw you are also free to block any instance yourself.
