I mean, it is shitty, but nobody forces anyone to participate. Half the people on Facebook noping the fuck out completely and deleteing their accounts would make everyone's life easier and happier
All the memes I send to my friends on messenger basically come from Lemmy. I always have to download the image and use the phone image editor to crop it by one pixel. It then let's me save it, and it saves as jpg/png by default.
Same here. When idle, the apps basically consume nothing. If they are just a webserver that calls to some PHP script, it basically takes no RAM at all when idle, and some RAM when actually used.
Websites and phone apps are such an unoptimized pieces if garbage that they are the sole reason for high RAM requirements. Also lots of background bloatware.
Alright, I should have prefaced this with "I assume society is working, there is no racism, corruption, non-cis non-hetero people have sufficient rights, and the government is working as intended."
How is that bad? Less pollution and garbage, no need for as much housing (thus dropping house prices), no need for as many stores, vehicles, resources.
And less shitty parents, less homeless people, less crime. I see that as an absolute win.
What economic positions did they occupy, exactly? All they had were raw resources - coal, oil, gas, and maybe wheat. They can't produce anything else of value.
