Spoiler: when they let you know about the better device, your phone will already be much better at the same client-side processing anyway.

Oh I think it’s all going how it was intended. Just not going according to the public justification.

Maybe he figures that crashing and burning as many giant global companies/brands as possible will make him more memorable for the history books.

Zink ,

Agreed. And remember that a good personal project does not necessarily have to be for profit.

X automatically changed 'Twitter' to 'X' in domain names, breaking legit URLs ( mashable.com )

On Monday, it appears X attempted to encourage users to cease referring to it as Twitter and instead adopt the name X. Some users began noticing that posts viewed via X for iOS were changing any references of "Twitter.com" to "X.com" automatically....

Are any of you fine lemmings currently in business school or studying marketing?

I wonder if this whole branding debacle is already actively studied and discussed in academia.

Zink ,

Good to see the party of small government at it again, not that they ever stopped.

It’s awful. It builds on the sick idea programmed into us that your productivity defines your worth as a human being.

Zink ,

Being productive in things you care about is a necessary part of self care and can enhance your happiness for sure.

But that’s different than basing the value of actual people (including yourself) on productivity.

Zink ,

Ugh. At the place I worked for a long time pre-covid, fairly often I heard the word “resource” being used in place of “human being.”

Can we put a resource on this problem?
Who is the resource assigned to this?
We won’t have an available resource until next month.

The typical high deductible health plans these days only seem to work well for people that need like no healthcare, or people who need a ton of it.

My secret trick is to have an incurable condition where the medications to hopefully stabilize you or slow progress of the disease are so hilariously expensive that the pharma company will pay all of my out of pocket costs. It’s like my employer pays me my salary, then my insurance company pays an entire separate yearly salary to the pharma company.

Throwing my hands up and saying "Covid these hard times 9/11” is going to be my new favorite way of ending a conversation or apologizing to somebody.

It was so good early on though. IMO you would do better to just watch the first 5 or 6 seasons and make up an ending in your head vs not watching at all. Or read a brief synopsis of the last couple seasons just to know where the characters ended up.

But then you might feel the call of the void, and want to watch the last couple seasons as a sort of "bad movie night” on steroids. On one hand, you will fully understand the magnitude of the fuckup, but on the other, you will taint your fond memories of the early seasons. The choice is yours.

There’s an interesting point buried at the end of that article: electricity quality. With batteries in the loop, supply can scale with demand almost instantly, versus the time it takes for various types of power plant to adjust output.
