Academy Street
by
Mary Costello (2015)

This book is about an Irish girl who moves to the USA in the early 1960s and how her life unfolds. A well-known theme and as always, the beauty lies in the telling.

It is a touching mix of sadness, loneliness, resignation and love. Wonderful.

The Vacationers
by
Emma Straub (2014)

I really enjoyed this book about a family on holiday and all the tensions & love that entails. It's one of my favorite fiction genres: about ordinary people, told from their different perspectives.

Very well written in an unobtrusive way.
