It looks like a very well built app to convert web pages to lite apps. It also seems to be based on Firefox and seems to include something similar to that of Firefox Multiaccount Containers for every webapp, on top of an adblocker. Seems very neat. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about whether or not it is open source...

Notice how America only ever cares when it is non American companies? What about Apple and their suicide nets in their fsctories in China? Oh nah we ain't gonna say or do anything about it cause they are American
Has live traffic updates, uses OSM database, amazing UI with tons of features, can work offline by downloading maps, and very privacy respecting (feel free to look through their privacy policy it is very short and simple). Only downside is it is not FOSS, but I tried using Organic Maps and then OsmAND for almost the past year and gave up because they just are too much of a downgrade from Google Maps both in terms of UI and traffic updates, whereas Magic Earth feels like the perfect compromise.
Like it or not, email is a critical part of our digital lives. It’s how we sign up for accounts, get notifications, and communicate with a wide range of entities online. Critics of email rightfully point out that email suffers from a significant number of flaws that make it less than ideal, but that doesn’t change the...
I would just leave it running all the time as it does give a privacy boost by masking ur approximate location and not letting your ISP spy on you. If you are going to do things like torrenting or visiting websites the government won't like, at LEAST use a different browser that is hardened (let's say you use basic firefox for regular browsing, use Mullvad browser or something instead for that specific task), or just straight up use TOR if what you are trying to do won't require that fast of internet speeds. If you are solely worried about the VPN IP address, you can just switch to a different server to a different country.
On android, I've had trouble with adguard.dns constantly kicking my phone off my wifi. It did great with blocking ads everywhere, but I'm done with reconnecting so often, and I have less data available on my phone plan these days to fill in....
I've heard the process is a pain in the ass and not very reliable. I am trying to prepare for when Apple adds RCS support because unfortunately in the US almost everyone has an iPhone and refuses to use a messaging app outside of iMessage....
Thank you for your useless comment. Actually not even thank you cause your statistics are wrong. US marketshare is 57% iOS and 43% Android, in the younger generations it's something more like 85% iOS and 15% Android which is the demographic I have to deal with.
Also you might need to install the Carrier Services app from google play. I also had given phone, call, contacts, and sms permissions to both play store and play services.
I've watched this video and it is a very flawed video.
Somewhere in the video he mentions something along the lines of "I'm not really worried because I'm not doing anything illegal" essentially implying if you're not doing anything illegal then you got nothing to hide, which has been debunked many many many times.
I believe no. I'm running Firefox with arkenfox user.js and when I take this test https://www.bromite.org/detect it shows a new and different fingerprint if everytime i close and reopen the browser. Feel free to try it for yourself.
And while Brave may be private from outsiders, it is far from private from Brave Software themselves and I wouldn't trust them if I was honest with you. If you want an alternative chromium based browser, check out Vivaldi. They don't have aaaas many privacy features built in as Brave does but you can still get very private and obviously tack on Ublock origin and a customized DNS block list like you normally would with any other browser. And they are significantly more trustworthy than Brave

I read a post here a while back claiming that graphine is less private but somehow more secure. Of course the only person I have to ask is the graphine Matrix who claims are the opposite of this. Generally my main concern about Calyx is it's Fake google play thing. Apparently this is less private than graphineOS's sandboxed...
I think this is only the case if you use GrapheneOS with Sandboxed Google Play. Obviously it is more privacy invasive to have a literal Google app on your device constantly running even if it is sandboxed, whereas with CalyxOS MicroG is somewhat of a proxy/anonymous workaround to Google Play. The reason why they say CalyxOS is less secure, is mainly because they have a tendency is fall behind on security updates for up to weeks or even months, whereas the GrapheneOS team is always on top of it. So, the privacy aspect goes like this: GrapheneOS > CalyxOS > GrapheneOS with Sandboxed Google Play. The security goes like this: GrapheneOS > GrapgeneOS with Sandboxed Google Play > CalyxOS.
I shall note that if you are like Richard Stallman and an extreme free software advocate then CalyxOS is the one that will align with your needs more.
Also FYI, the GrapheneOS and CalyxOS teams do not like each other at all, mainly because the old GrapheneOS head, Daniel Micay, was a toxic individual. Check out this video from Techlore and this video from Louis Rossmann for more info. Despite of that, I would say GrapheneOS is objectively the better operating system and it is what I use, very happy with it.
