Achievements or multiplayer matching not being implemented in the game itself isn't on GOG. They still allow you to download and launch any game you've bought, without even requiring galaxy.

Also lesser known is the fact that there are DRM-free games on steam. Download them once, you can play without having steam running or even installed. Using a client to download isn't inherently DRM either.

How many people actually want fully on-site IT jobs?

I've been looking for a new job as a software developer. The huge majority of job listings I see in my area are hybrid or remote. I just had an introductory phone call with Vizio (which didn't specify the location type in the job listing). The recruiter told me that the job was fully on-site, which I told her was a deal breaker...

Personally I just like my colleagues so it's fun to be around them for the most part, and there are better lunch options around the office in my case (plus I'd never bother going somewhere when I'm home anyway). It being easier to just quickly ask a question is nice too. Also gets me actually out of the house and cycling for ~40 minutes a day. I also get way more done at work because working at the same pc I spend 90% of my free time at is not great at motivating my brain to do work.

Still, if I didn't have the option to just stay home when I don't feel like going to the office/am waiting for a package or something, I'd find that very annoying.

Shorting, crypto trading, options are all gambling. Long term investments are usually not.

One is hoping that the price will go a certain way in the short term. The other is giving a company money so they hopefully turn it into more money. that is the difference, nothing to do with casinos.

Too many is still better than too few, and it's not close. Useless comments make parsing a bit harder. Missing comments can mean hours of research.

I think germany could have gone worse, and people are quick to see that the AfD has the second most votes and cry disaster, but reality is that left wing votes are just split between more parties. Overall "cdu and further right" seems to bd about evenly split with "left of cdu".

But still, compared to both the previous EU election and the most recent national election, it got quite a bit worse. CDU and AfD combined were at 36% in the last national election, they're up by about 5% each, and that while the CDU has been getting closer to the AfDs position in recent years.

Oh no, a typo from hitting a key right next to the intended key, this has never happened in the history of journalism!

I played it on a pc that was ok at the time and the physics engine glitched out so things that were supposed to be sitting still on top of/next to each other would randomly collide and sometimes fly off. Still had fun with the game though.

It's not, that guy constantly tweets this sort of joke. The shutterstock thing is just part of it.

This is literally just you being used to one system but not the other. 16 to 26 sounds like a massive difference to me because it is. And decimals exist.

I once failed a test in politics class because after examining both sides I stated this issue does not affect me and I can see merit in both positions, therefore I do not have an opinion on the correct course of action.

Not like the grade mattered in the slightest but that was actual bullshit.

It's easy to say everyone should have human rights. But what if one person goes against anothers human rights? What is a just punishment?

And that's before even getting into what rights people should have. You can very easily have everyone be theoretically equal while still effectively disadvantaging some people (and getting rid of that entirely is not even possible, we can just minimize it). There's a lot to debate.

What I don't get is why there would ever be a debate about excluding some people from human rights without them first violating others'. The only argument for that is "if we oppress this group, this other group will have better lives". Which is often true, sure, but that's just being a selfish asshole.

That's not even remotely what they said lmao

It's pretty clear that there tends to be a lack of differential diagnosis and inability to judge severity of symptoms when it comes to self-diagnosis. People see some matching symptoms and go "I must have this!" when it could be 20 other things.

Though i also dunno if needing treatment or special care is the best metric to use since it's very possible to have ASD and just get by with masking (obv not in all cases).

Oh yea, I'd never question anyone having a hard time. In the context of the meme specifically it doesn't make much sense to question things, now that I think about it. If only autistic people go "yea sounds about right" there's a good chance you're autistic anyway.

But I've seen it personally where ppl match some symptoms and become utterly convinced they must have a specific disorder, and it doesn't make sense either. There's no huge harm to it but esp an awareness of differential diagnosis seems to be lacking.

Is arguing "The west does not just send weapons. Europe also helps Ukraine in other ways" nationalism? ( lemmy.dbzer0.com )

I got banned from "World News @ lemmy.ml" because of “Nationalism”, because I argued that especially Europe does not just send weapons to Ukraine, but does also support Ukraine with the injured, with money and with a perspective after the war… My comment got deleted, too…...

Things have definitions. A scotsman is a scottish person, which is why no true scotsman is about claiming someone isn't scottish for their behavior instead of simply their nationality (ignore further issues of self identity etc here).

Communism similarly has a definition and just because you claim to be one doesn't mean you are one. Just like a country isn't a democracy just because it calls itself democratic.

All communist countries i know of went into authoritarianism along the way. There's this weird idea that communism can be implemented through creating an authoritarian state that then abolishes itself, turns out the people in power generally don't want to give it up, who would've thought.

Fwiw I disagree with a lot of assumptions in marxism and some of the conclusions and am overall more of a social capitalist but it's pretty true that there hasn't been a truly communist country yet. But I'm fairly sure the same could be said of true pure capitalism anyway.
