I'm looking for a better knife sharpener for my hard steel chef knife. I think whetstones are the way to go, but most of the sets I see are 4 double sided stones. Do I need that many stones?...
Get a shapton 1000 grit ceramic whetstone, they're excellent and not terribly expensive.
Those 4 sided ones are neat and all, but a decent stone will give you a better edge especially if you combine it with stropping.
I hate to suggest r*ddit, but r/sharpening was pretty good
Get a honing steel if you don't already have one to help maintain the edge as you use the blade too, I keep one in the kitchen.
YouTube would probably be another place with good sharpening tutorials but you really just need a stone or two, an old leather belt to use as a strop, some stropping paste, and a honing steel. Shouldn't cost more than $50-60 total.
The stones eventually wear down of course, but they'll last a good while and you can flatten them when they start to dish.
I've never really given that any thought lol, I couldn't even tell you the brand I have, I just looked up "stropping paste". It's some green stuff that came in a white capsule.
If you don't want a part of your body to get sore, then that part shouldn't be pushing against something that doesn't move along with it. That's the thinking behind the vabsRider bicycle saddle, the two sides of which pivot in time with your pedaling.
I totally want one, but they're expensive AF. I think I'm gonna go with a Cane Creek Thudbuster seatpost after reading some reviews, the LT looks like it could soak up a good amount of bumps for a seatpost.
From forming bound states to normal scattering, many possibilities abound for matter-antimatter interactions. So why do they annihilate? There’s a quantum reason we simply can’t avoid.
If we could figure out how to use it to make sustainable reactors, we could probably produce a fuckton of energy? It can help us better understand our universe and advance science?

Pure water is not going to burn you and you can even drink it (though, over time, it can leach minerals from you but then again so do carbonated beverages). People buy distilled water all the time.
What do you mean by "pure water" then? What exactly are you referring to?
Edit: Ok, it looks like judging by your other post, you're referring specifically to type II deionized water. That is not really what people immediately think of when you say pure water. Also, it's not going to burn you unless you boil it.
Any amount is a serious problem that should be addressed by improved safety IMO. Hoping that solid state batteries pretty much eliminate fires but I guess we'll see.
New research shows lifelong bikers have healthier knees, less pain and a longer lifespan, compared to people who've never biked. This adds to the evidence that cycling promotes healthy aging.
I bike year round and yes it does, but you need to wear the right stuff which includes a water/windproof outer layer (otherwise, the wind pushes the cold right through your barriers, just like it would on a mountain).
It makes getting ready more of a hassle, riding more of a hassle, and you'll want your outer layer to be vented with stuff like pit zips as well so you can dump off the extra heat you will inevitably build up pedaling. If you overheat and build up sweat inside, then stop, you'll start to freeze especially if your layers don't wick away and evaporate your sweat fast enough.
I like having my outer layer made out of a waterproof breathable material like eVent or Goretex, but they're pricey. It's not as nice as commuting in warmer weather, but it isn't impossible.
Stay hydrated and maybe get an ebike lol. When it gets that hot I often skip using my regular bike in favor of my ebike, the wind helps a lot especially when you aren't putting out a ton of effort.
