Like I get your sentiment, and I agree....but waiting for a game like this to die and then going see it wasn't worth it good thing I waited doesn't make any sense in a general way. Joel is portrayed as being a part of the journey of the game. He dies in the first "chapter". They went so far as to switch a character out for him to make it look like he would be alive for the game. And then they try to make you sympathetic to the person who killed him by making you play as them for half the game. :::
