Israel vows to press on in Gaza after UN Security Council approves ceasefire proposal
🔶️ Israel has vowed to persist with its military operation in Gaza, saying it won’t engage in “meaningless” negotiations with #Hamas, shortly after the United Nations Security Council overwhelmingly approved a US-backed #ceasefire plan intended to bring an end to the eight-month war.
🔶️ Israel’s representative to the UN, Reut Shapir Ben-Naftaly, emphasized at a #UNSC meeting Monday that her country wants to “ensure that Gaza doesn’t pose a threat to Israel in the future.”
🔶️ Her comments came after 14 of the 15 UNSC council members voted in favor of Monday’s US-drafted resolution, with only #Russia abstaining – the first time the council has endorsed such a plan to end the war. Israel is not a member of the UNSC, and so did not vote.
Kick this rogue nation out of #UN. They do not belong to the world nations. They are a nation of arrogant #savages.
They know that the words of US and Israel is not even worth a dog fart so they want to sign an agreement with international backers in order to have some kind of guarantees. Not that any of those countries will lift a finger to help the Palestinians when (not if, but when) Israel breaks the agreement.
I need help in searching any international organizations as a guarantor or something similar, that can help moving out of #russia due to medical and political reasons.
Thing is due to my health condition I have high chances to be left alone here to starve. I wrote around 250 emails to different organizations with little to no result 🥲

Today in Writing History June 4, 1917: Laura E. Richards, Maude H. Elliott, and Florence Hall won the first Pulitzer prize for biography. They wrote about their mother Julia Ward Howe, the feminist, abolitionist, pacifist author and poet. You can read the biography here.
Howe not only wrote the lyrics to The Battle Hymn of the Republic; she also wrote the pacifist 1870 Mother’s Day Proclamation. Also known as the Appeal to Womanhood Throughout the World, the proclamation called on women to unite worldwide for peace. In 1872, Howe called for a Mother’s Day for Peace to be celebrated each year on June 2. Yet today, women throughout the U.S. and Europe (along with the men) are calling for ever more heavy weaponry and NATO troops to be sent to the Ukrainian killing fields, where over 200,000 Ukrainians have already lost their lives, and where this now direct NATO involvement risks precipitating WWIII between nuclear-armed powers, neither of which show any indication that they are willing to back down or negotiate an end to the slaughter. Where is the peace movement today? Or, is some slaughter justified in the name of capitalism (er, I mean against despotism)? And, if that is true, where are all the people screaming for war against India? Philippines? Italy? Saudi Arabia? El Salvador? Egypt? Sudan? And Israel?

Huge Soviet-era monument taken down in Kyiv as Ukraine continues 'derussification' #TheArtNewspaper
“A Soviet-era monument believed to glorify Ukraine’s ties to Russia is being dismantled on orders of the Kyiv city government in the latest stage of derussification following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Kyiv’s Department of Territorial Control announced the start of the monument’s removal in a Facebook post on 30 April, stressing its massive size: “The sculptural composition is large, consists of about 20 elements weighing between 6,000kg and 7,000kg each. Due to the complexity of the design, dismantling may take a few days.””
