Israeli cabinet discusses punitive measures against #UN agencies
🔶️ Months of tensions boil over after UN chief adds Israeli military to #blacklist for failing to protect #children in conflict
🔶️ Benjamin #Netanyahu’s government has discussed far-reaching measures against UN agencies operating in Israel and the Palestinian territories, including the possible expulsion of staff, according to five people familiar with the matter.
🔶️ The UN has slammed Israel for not doing enough to protect either the organisation’s own humanitarian personnel in Gaza or Palestinian civilians, with #Guterres calling Gaza a “graveyard for children”.
Israel vows to press on in Gaza after UN Security Council approves ceasefire proposal
🔶️ Israel has vowed to persist with its military operation in Gaza, saying it won’t engage in “meaningless” negotiations with #Hamas, shortly after the United Nations Security Council overwhelmingly approved a US-backed #ceasefire plan intended to bring an end to the eight-month war.
🔶️ Israel’s representative to the UN, Reut Shapir Ben-Naftaly, emphasized at a #UNSC meeting Monday that her country wants to “ensure that Gaza doesn’t pose a threat to Israel in the future.”
🔶️ Her comments came after 14 of the 15 UNSC council members voted in favor of Monday’s US-drafted resolution, with only #Russia abstaining – the first time the council has endorsed such a plan to end the war. Israel is not a member of the UNSC, and so did not vote.
Kick this rogue nation out of #UN. They do not belong to the world nations. They are a nation of arrogant #savages.
#Israel considering leaving #un
"In response to the UN adding Israel to the “blacklist” of countries who harm children during war, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, said that Israel needs to weigh leaving the UN. He said the move was “a despicable decision by the Secretary General who hates Israel, who in his conduct serves dictators and murderers and will be remembered in history as a failed Secretary General who degraded the UN to an all-time low.” @palestine https://anash.org/war-day-251-israel-considers-exiting-un-rescue-details-revealed/
Not to forget using aid truck as the mean of military operations which is clearly made as a crime in Geneva convention.
Question is, will it have any impact on the favorable relationship between US, UK and EU with Israel? Or it's going to be one another crimes comitted by Israel that goes unpunished.
#UN / UN Security Council backs plan for Israel-Hamas ceasefire
The Security Council held an emergency meeting and voted on the proposal, with 14 members in favor, none against, and one abstention (Russia). By treating #Israel, a UN member state, and #Hamas, a non-state militant group, on equal footing, the resolution avoids being seen as overtly taking sides.
[…] Biden laid out a three-phase ceasefire plan on May 31 that he described as an Israeli initiative. Some Security Council members questioned whether Israel had accepted the plan to end the fighting in Gaza.
[…] The resolution welcomes the new ceasefire proposal, "which Israel accepted, calls upon Hamas to also accept it, and urges both parties to fully implement its terms without delay and without condition."
According to a leaked document detailing Israel's proposed deal with Hamas (as revealed by Channel 12), Israel indeed offered to end the war and withdraw IDF forces from Gaza before all captives are released by Hamas. Israel's Prime Minister's Office, though, denies now that this was the full deal, stating Israel would not end the war until all its goals were met - defeating Hamas, return of all captives, and ensuring Gaza no longer threatens Israel.
We're talking about history. Its Arab neighbors tried to destroy it decades ago and failed.
They call this failure the "Nabka" so that they can make it sound like they were the innocent victims of Jewish oppression, not bloodthirsty lunatics who chose war instead of accepting the UN's plan.
Everyone creates his very own #hell. The Jews now have theirs in Israel. It has never proved a good idea to steal land to establish an #Apartheid regime.
Backed by the #UN the state of #Israel had been given the chance, to integrate cultures and religions in #Palestine in a modern civilized society as e.g. India did, but they failed.
The #Jewish founders failed because of their childish belief in being God's 1st choice, the elite of Mankind.
This article in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat documents the massive destruction caused by the recent Israeli military operation in the #Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip. It describes how entire residential blocks, medical centers, #UN aid facilities, and water wells were demolished, leaving the camp in ruins.
Testimonies from returning residents like Umm Fadi (أم فادي) and Munir al-Masri (منير المصري) recount how their homes and neighborhoods were completely leveled. They accuse Israel of taking revenge on Jabalia, which has been a center of resistance.
[…] "My son and grandson were martyred during the first incursion into the camp, and now in this new incursion they destroyed our home, and destroyed all the homes of our neighbors. Even the schools were burned and large parts of them were demolished. What happened is they destroyed everything. They completely erased the camp."
[…] "The operation is clear. Its objective and results are clear. They destroyed our homes, water wells, medical clinics and schools - not #Hamas and its capabilities. The occupation even burned down and destroyed #UNRWA headquarters, leaving nothing of it remaining."
Israel claims the operation targeted Hamas' efforts to regroup in the camp. However, residents say Israel destroyed civilian infrastructure like markets and bakeries rather than just Hamas capabilities. But its actions show intent to erase signs of life in Jabalia. One merchant says shops and stalls were deliberately burned down, and another woman says Israel executed her brothers.
With ongoing rescue efforts by civil defense crews to recover bodies from the rubble, the Israeli operation comes across as involving widespread and indiscriminate destruction in the camp, far beyond its stated military targets.
US State Department official resigns, says US report on #Gaza inaccurate
A U.S. State Department official who quit this week said on Thursday her resignation was precipitated by an administration report to #Congress that she said falsely stated #Israel was not blocking #humanitarian aid to Gaza, prompting her to resign in protest of President Joe #Biden's Israel policy.
Stacy Gilbert, who served in the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, was a subject matter expert working on the report.
"There is so clearly a right and wrong, and what is in that report is wrong," Gilbert said in an interview.
WTAF: #US Secretary of State #Blinken warned if United Nations recognizes #Palestine as an independent State, United States, allies and affiliated businessmen will cut funding for #UN, thus cutting United Nations ability to run huminitarian aid for Global South countries.
He is threatening the world on behalf of #Israel, while pretending that they support a 2 state solution.
This is the most outrageous comment I've ever read from Blinken. I'm not sure if it's accurate, because the only source is the post on ShiTwitter:https://x.com/halalflow/status/1792944530389393422
#domicide must be recognised as an international crime
The massive, arbitrary destruction of civilian housing in violent conflict should be recognised as a crime under international law, the UN’s independent housing rights expert told the General Assembly today [28 October 2022].
