Worst things I've encountered in the sand at the beach in Santa Cruz is the occasional beer can/bottle and hermit crabs pinching my toes.

Last fun thing like that I had was picking up a horny hairy tarantula and getting stung on the back of my hand as he crawled around

The beach experience misses:

  • used heroin needles,
  • used condoms,
  • more thrown away trash in general,
  • dead fishes.
