Help needed on in !

I found this image below in the Frankfurt UB colonial photo archive without any description. It shows a group of and soldiers in front of a building with a wire fence.
Does anyone know of any context? During the and in maybe?

    Ich kenne den Kontext nicht, aber auf der linken Seite scheint ein "Askari" zu stehen. Das würde auf Deutsch-Ostafrika hindeuten.
