I like it all except the downvote bit. I don't like downvotes being weaponised moreso than what they already are.

sabreW4K3 ,
@sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al avatar

Let me rephrase. What I feel is that downvoting should be used for legitimate content interaction. i.e. That doesn't fit this community, that's not a good post. Not, I don't like this opinion. I'm saying it should be saved for legitimate communing.

@sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al avatar

Curious as to why the person that downvoted this, did so?

It's disappointing that politics and xenophobia are even a factor in such discussions. As a society, we were always going to make humanoid robots, the question was if we would be ready for them by the time they arrive? Unfortunately, I don't think we are ready and we'll likely use them for profit. But that doesn't take away from the benefits that they can provide. If we can have these assist the sick and elderly, that would be wonderful for society. I just don't see the downside of this article being posted, at the very least it opens up the floor to discussion.

We've seen a few robot restaurants open in the past few years. I wonder how they're getting on. I remember at least one was a failure because it needed humans to supervise everything.

People fear what they don't know?

Did you watch the video? Have you ever watched a Why Files video?

sabreW4K3 OP ,
@sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al avatar

Okay, so you didn't watch it. Have no clue what it's about, but you wanted to insert yourself? For the record, the Why Files debunks things.

sabreW4K3 OP ,
@sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al avatar

Sometimes in this world, we'll see things that just aren't for us. You had no interest in the video and that's absolutely okay. The best practice would've been just to scroll on by.

Anyway, have a wonderful day. ☺

Come now Sean, you know that everything open about BlueSky is smoke and mirrors, considering that everything stops and starts with the indexer.

sabreW4K3 ,
@sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al avatar

No. With ActivityPub, it's totally decentralized. There's no central authority whatsoever. What there is however, is an instance that's bigger than the rest. So if we talk about Lemmy. I can access it and post and my ISP can block Lemmy World and I'd never know.

With BlueSky, it pretends to be similar, but the reality is that everything needs to go through their central server in order to be displayed on a timeline. BlueSky is designed in such a way so that everyone does the heavy lifting, but to be seen, you need to have approval from their central server, where they can modify, insert adverts, do whatever. It's a centralised service that cosplays as decentralised. I don't understand why people keep pushing it when it's literally the same shit we all escaped from but with a new paint job.

I'm definitely in support of robots getting mandatory breaks and downtime. Just didn't understand why Sunday was compulsory. Thanks for explaining.

Love things like this, but at 3.500€, that's a massive ask. Hopefully the concept catches on.

While what we can generate is negligible. If, for example you had these in all gyms, that's generating something. Not a lot, but more than nothing. Also all houses should have batteries and being able to remove the cost of a phone charge from what you suck from the grid would be nice.

TL;DW: Chainsaws were originally intended to cut through bone. Specifically pelvis bone to help facilitate child birth.

Zigbee2MQTT is what I'm using. Everything I watched said it was the best, but ZHA is getting better.

Users already relinquished their copyright rights when they signed the ToS.

sabreW4K3 OP ,
@sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al avatar

The copyright law says that Musk cannot claim copyright while also claiming not to be accountable. That has nothing to do with users waiving their copyright, which has been the standard practice for all forum software since practically forever. It's why prior to GDPR, their was nothing to motivate websites from deleting your posts and even that isn't about copyright, it's about privacy.

Default sort would be great. Especially for sports events. But I don't want Lemmy to become an answer repository, keep it as a link aggregator

Everything. Why would you trust Meta with anything?

sabreW4K3 ,

Sometimes putting the ideas we have out there makes a difference. While we lack the competency, perhaps someone that sees this will and it will inspire them to bring something to life.

sabreW4K3 ,
@sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al avatar

Just seen that they've renamed themselves as Freenet. It's a shame that they're using Reddit rather than Lemmy though.

sabreW4K3 ,
@sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al avatar

Why though? In case of a public chat or a chat with at least few dozens of users it'll already be excessive if it could work at all.

For public chats, you wouldn't need to approve, only for private chat groups.

Like really P2P or E2E?

Yep real P2P. The design is inspired by BitTorrent.
