You may find it laughable but it is what it is. Most people does not enjoy signing up for specific product forums. It's much easier to just add yet another discord server to the list.

The mechanical keyboard topic was just an example. Because I'm kinda into mechanical keyboards, I can instantly spot the obviously bad recommendations. If the topic was something like microphones or washing machines, I'd be toast.

Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely start asking there!

Unfortunately this doesn't work in Portugal. Most sales people don't have any sort of training in the products they sell and they are heavily pressured into selling services rather than products. Your budget is 200 euros? They're going to try to suggest you a 100 euros product and then try to get you to buy extended warranty and/or insurance.

That's a very neat idea, to be honest. I hadn't thought of that!

I mean... If Proton had no way of knowing your recovery email, it would be pretty pointless to set one up. If they do have a way of knowing it, they are bound by swiss law to give it up. No company is above the law, they have always been very transparent on that matter.

[Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don't come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don't really get upset by it...

This is not how you get people to join your ideas, this is how you push them away further.

I don't know how you read my comment and concluded that I approve racism or homofobia. It's these kind of comments that push people away.

Vegan and non vegans are are at the opposite extremes. One only eats meat, the other never eats meat. You can't insult people into your way. No one wants to have a conversation with you when you just randomly accuse them of homofobia. In your future attempt try going easier and with baby steps. People are more likely to stop eating meat if they take it one step at a time. This ridiculous expectation that someone must change their lifestyle over night or they're racists... This isn't the way, statistically speaking. But alas, this is a pointless discussion because you already know this and just want to fight with a stranger on the internet. Have a nice day.

I used to be a Mullvad customer but switched to Proton because I use all the products on their suite. It makes financial sense to me.

Mullvad, however, has the best VPN experience ever. Faster, more stable and way less Captchas (though I'm not sure that's good?). Plus, I love their bullshit free pricing. It's 5 euros a month regardless if you buy 1 month or 2 years. Can't recommend it enough, even though I'm no longer a customer.

Yep, I know exactly what you mean. Lack of ipv6 is mind blowing, to be honest.

Yeah but what's the point of using Debian when you're going to have to manually package newer versions of a lot of software?

You can also install "app stores" on arch, if you so desire. I believe the most famous one is pamac.

You can configure the firewall with the KDE GUI, you don't need additional knowledge than the one you'd already need for any other system.

I wouldn't recommend Arch for newbies with no technical background but I feel like EndeavourOS is very simple to install and use.

But why go through those hoops? What is the advantage Debian brings when you have to cherry pick packages and their dependencies from Sid? Stability is no longer an advantage when you are cherry picking from Sid lol.
