I like to talk about my life and experiences and hear those of others, and help support others and spread kindness and live a free and happy life.

My asks:
Be kind to people, including yourself.
Avoid stress if it's not important.
You and other people matter.
Grow to be the best version of yourself.

@dramypsyd @actuallyautistic I never even knew what this meant until years after I'd heard it and looked it up on Urban Dictionary

@actuallyautistic Any tips on how to deal with imposter syndrome? 😅 It's really been affecting me lately, and I'm not sure why.

I feel like I can never quite be certain that the things I KNOW are true about myself are actually true, like my brain is willingly playing tricks on itself.

@chevalier26 @actuallyautistic personally, it tends to come and go for me, and it tends to come on strong when I have a disconnect between my identity and who I feel I might be. Usually reconnecting with that identity in some fashion has helped me, for instance with my autism, I would watch more videos about autistic life and behavior and experiences, and that would usually help. I see myself in the content, and that helps to remind me as to who I am.

@actuallyautistic Has anyone ever told you that you were “too vague”? Earlier I was talking with my mom about our plan to leave our cabin and I said “the only reason I’d need to come back after we eat lunch would be to shower” and she said “well you can do that at home” (I had already mentioned earlier how I wanted to shower at home). So I said “that’s my whole point” which started an argument about how I’m not clear in mt communication. 1/2

@chevalier26 @actuallyautistic My daughter and I are both Autistic and we have this issue on occasion. I've come to believe that, at least for myself, I have a very long contextual reason behind the thought in my head and it's not always easy or intuitive to get the whole thing out there. Maybe her too.

Of course for neurotypicals this isn't a huge deal, but either I'm asking her for more context or she's getting upset because how she interpreted the lack of details was unpleasant/scary to her

What effect has bullying had on my comrades?

You’re not alone.

@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic Having a hard time with words at the moment but it wrecked my ability to be myself around others

What’s the biggest myth about autism that my comrades have come across in the course of their self-advocacy?

@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic That Autistic folks are all savants, or even gifted. Even with a special interest that doesn't necessarily make us an expert on our field - just means we like it a lot and want to share what we enjoy. People range in skills and capabilities and we're included in that just as much as the NTs. And those of us who don't have high intellect or a specialty are still worthy of love and respect.

Someone asked whether I ever played Doom. No, not really. I told that I've never liked first person shooters and then it hit me. I never liked them as there's too much going on. In fact, I've never been a big fan of any types of shooters, the only exception being Cannon Fodder. Now, with the new-found autistic perspective, it makes perfect sense. Sensory overdrive all the time equals no fun. How about my fellow autistics, any fans of shooters?

@LehtoriTuomo @actuallyautistic Weirdly, Team Fortress 2, but maybe because it's so unserious that I could play lousy and not get shamed for it much?
