I love Jesus but not the church as is. I church here, around my dining room table, in the grocery store and on my front porch. I'm a firm egalitarian and am actively taking my life back from the patriarchy. I am a friend of anyone wounded or in the margins, loving the person in front of me as a way of life.

So for the last ten years, my partner has been mowing the lawn on Fridays every summer so that the bugs are settled and the yard is less buggy for our time together on the weekends.

This is very sweet and thoughtful of them and it is also something I did not notice was happening, though they tell me they’ve told me 40 times in 10 years.

I just never noticed or remembered. 😬😞It makes relationships (and gratitude for others actions) difficult

@lifewithtrees @actuallyadhd @actuallyautistic I want to say something kind and smart and helpful, but I just don't have much. Here is what I know: you are not your not-noticing. Your desire to notice better is 90% of the way there. (Imagine all the widgets that would tell Alch to get over it.) Where it gets tricky is finding the balance of, let's say, digital reminders and the ability to be genuine. You can't set a reminder on your phone for Friday at dinner to remind you to be grateful, but can you set a reminder for Friday, early in the day to watch for a mown lawn? So when you see it you can express your gratitude?

I don't really know if that works for you or not, but some sort of mix of it may be helpful? ❤️

@actuallyautistic Somehow got into an argument earlier about fractions with my parents, especially the fraction 15/16. I said that 7.5/8 is the same thing as 15/16, because they can be converted to each other by multiplying or dividing the numerator and denominator by 2.

My mom basically said, no, that's not right because it's not a "proper fraction" which doesn't make sense to me. The math checks out, and numerators can have decimal integers. Is there something I'm missing?

@chevalier26 @actuallyautistic Is she calling a non-proper fraction because of the decimal point in the numerator? Maybe? Because the math looks right to me. 🤷‍♀️

“What do you want to do 5 years from now?”

🤔

😬

🤯

I am having a difficult time visioning 5 years from now, what I want to do and then how to get there.

Some of this is due to the chaos of the last few years, but I also think it could be a challenge due to

Also I am 42 so midlife stuff?

That all said, how do you vision 5 years from now?

@lifewithtrees @actuallyadhd @actuallyautistic Because of where I've been in my life, decades of oppressive 'loved ones', I love this question.

And someone share this the other day:

In five years I will be me, more me than I've ever been before. I will be more peaceful and content within, and I will be more at home in my body and my relationship with the planet, the plants and trees and dirt and river, will be all about kind stewardship.

I will have better boundaries and more freedom, more wisdom and more grace.

Yes, the world may have gone to hell in a handbasket by then, but these years will be the best of my life.
