Saving isn't the same as profit. Saving is much more beneficial, but our society is focused on profit.

It actually is monorail. It looks like the stabilizing arm is for when the vehicle is off and not moving. It uses a gyroscope while moving for stabilization

Jaytreeman , to World News in Top Secret: In a 2018 letter, Netanyahu asks Qatar to fund Hamas

I agree with you, but you might find the history of Zionism interesting. Before Israel, there was a sizable portion of Zionists that didn't want Israel to exist in the middle east. There were also Zionists that didn't want a 'state'. They thought it was more important to have a safe place for a sizable Jewish population. There's probably a lot of flavors of Zionism that you'd agree with. It's the dominant Israeli Zionism that's horrible.

It's a lot easier to say 'Zionist' though. Just thought I'd share in case you weren't aware.

Lenin and the Bolsheviks essentially legalized it though.
Nobody likes Stalin. If you do, think about your life and your place in the world

Jaytreeman , to Canada in Canada is still backing the fossil fuel industry with billions, report finds

When Harper was still in power, the Canadian government had a deal where the oil companies would get subsidized until the oil sands were profitable.
So Canada was giving the oil companies billions.
I'm putting on my tinfoil hat now.
Trudeau rushed to buy the pipeline when it was canceled. Is that because the oil sands can't be profitable without the pipeline, and this deal is bleeding Canada dry?
I just thought of this now, I'd love some criticism if anyone's got some.

Resorting to insults when you can't get your point across in a reasonable way. My bet is you're a teacher.
Cheers

Jaytreeman , to Ask Lemmy in Shouldn't most religious people in theory be excited to die because then they get to experience the afterlife?

You're starting to get it?
That the true believers aren't afraid of death. The believers that are scared at the concept of dying aren't actually believers at all.

Jaytreeman , to Ask Lemmy in Shouldn't most religious people in theory be excited to die because then they get to experience the afterlife?

100% it's different.
Just because a movie has a jump scare it isn't necessarily a scary movie. There's a difference between some existential dread and 'boo'.
I'd argue that the accident is a startle response with body horror mixed in.
Some people are scared of death. Doesn't matter the cause. That's what I'm talking about. It's 100% different than a fatal car accident.

Jaytreeman , to World News in Evidence shows recent presidential elections most rigged in Russia’s modern history

(Assuming you're American)

Lots of Americans seem to think that state media is a bad thing. Lot's of countries get it right. Especially after it's first been implemented.
I'd often rather have a government (obviously not Russia, China, or in my case Canada) over some oligarch controlling it. Murdoch hasn't exactly been doing good things wherever he goes

Guy got 87%.
You can't get 87% of people to agree on pizza toppings for the night

Jaytreeman , to Ask Lemmy in Shouldn't most religious people in theory be excited to die because then they get to experience the afterlife?

A fatal car accident is different. Could be a shock scare or just not wanting to be injured.

Belief in god has no bearing in reality.

Having said that, my grandfather outlived my grandmother by 10-15 years. On his deathbed, he was holding some marriage pictures. He was looking forward to seeing her. Guy believed 100%. Still makes me tear up thinking about it.

Jaytreeman , to Ask Lemmy in Shouldn't most religious people in theory be excited to die because then they get to experience the afterlife?

I agree with you.
Either the person isn't a 'good follower' and isn't going to the good place.
Or they don't actually believe. Because there should be no fear or apprehension about going to the good place

Dudes drunk the koolaid. Probably not worth the effort to get him to think critically
