This essay somehow resonates in me. Since I can remember, I never understood genders. It's simply not a thing for me. Why should we be restrained and oppress ourselves with a binary choice? It doesn't make any sense in a world of diversity. It's a purely social construction that doesn't feet my view and who I am. We are all humans.

“Autistic people aren’t being fooled into being nonbinary. We see past the binary that fools you.”

"Others have proposed that individuals with autism are more prone to reject ideas they perceive as flawed or logically inconsistent (Kristensen & Broome, 2016), such as social conditioning and social norms (Ansara & Hegarty, 2011), and this facilitates 'coming out.'"

So, it's cool enough that I finally have the urge to put on my zippered hooded sweatshirt again. Part of my involves being comfortable with fabric against my skin -- and not having that (and having to wear short sleeve shirts) has been unbearable. That means it's way too hot for me.

@actuallyautistic Does anyone else in the group have that issue? How do you cope?

@actuallyautistic I saw someone wearing a very lightweight hooded zippered sweatshirt. I might need to look into that.

@samhainnight @actuallyautistic Relatable! Some of my neighbors always give me weird looks, but at this point, I don't care.

@nikkiana @actuallyautistic Nice! I keep a hoodie in my car for similar reasons.

" Is the best way. Comfort over everything." YES!!! Some of my younger ND friends are learning this by example. I love being a role model for ND coping sklls and awareness, since apparently, I can articulate my experiences through online posts / chats (where I can think about what I'm going to say. As opposed to in person convos, with some exceptions). @pathfinder @samhainnight @actuallyautistic

Yikes! I lived in Sydney for a while. 40° sounds awful! Darwin is probably even worse since they tend to be on the humid side of things (Darwin reminded me of south Florida). @moz @CatDragon @actuallyautistic

So, there is a support group for ND folks at my current workplace. Something I've been hearing again and again from fellow Autistic employees is how when we drop our masks (for whatever reason -- though a lot of the time it might be after we receive our official diagnoses), that all of a sudden we're considered "difficult" and "too rigid". In my case, I didn't have much of a mask to begin with (and even was described with those terms in a previous position, which I resigned from). I'm curious as to how many other Autists have had that happen to them -- especially after dropping their masks?

I'm so sorry that happened to you. But I'm glad you got your SSDI approval. That's huge! @hellomiakoda @actuallyautistic

Too many upcoming social events. Although most of it is rather positive, I already feel overwhelmed.

I fear not being able to accomplish everything I feel I need to do.

There will be huge gatherings and I dread sensory overload and meltdown.

I don't know when/how to clean the house the day (before) some friends are coming over.

I feel I haven't worked enough this weekend and don't know how to complete everything work-related on time.

Please: no advice, just sympathy.
