My #bookreview is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, & spectacular #horror#books far & wide.
TELEPORTASM is the latest (#3) in Shortwave Publishing's Killer VHS series. Joshua Millican contributes a fun tale that pays homage to the gory, glorious films of the 80's/90's with a fresh, modern take on body horror & cursed media- tapes that offer trips that tantalize and torment, with no cure for their lure.
The Damage Done combines Korean folklore with gruesome body horror in a fast-paced read that pulled me in from the brutal opening to the heart-wrenching climax. I feel as if the author tied me to a pendulum where I swung nervously back and forth, one minute being afraid for the characters and the next being afraid of them. @horrorbooks#bookstodon@horror My review is posted at https://wellwortharead.blogspot.com/2024/06/the-damage-done-by-tony-tremblay.html

Damn, I ran through the Screams 1-4 over the past couple of days. Never gave any of the films much attention in years past, and I dug this round of watches. It’s potentially one of the only franchises I've ever seen that doesn't get worse, and that’s probably because of Craven and Williamson's involvement in each film, but wow, just wow.
Five Nights at Freddy's (the movie) was way better than I expected. A lot of #ChannelZero vibes, both in some of the aesthetics and the way it engages with horror and trauma.
