There's a certain logic to this. The more useful a personal AI is, the more it knows about your activities, so as to master helping you do them better. I'm not saying I like this new Microsoft feature, but the underlying logic is not exclusive to them - it will be everywhere else in the world too eventually as AI grows.
Being on the level of a senior pilot is absolutely awesome. Also, this is not really relevant in practice. An AI controlled jet will be able to cope with much higher g loads than a human controlled one. That alone will give it an unsurmountable advantage even if the human pilot might theoretically be better. On top of that, dogfighting is a thing of the past anyway. Future aerial engagements will be decided by who fires off their missile first. Again, the AI will always be better at that.
Yeah, i mean, that kinda proves my point, the AI has some major physical advantages, but still only broke even? Seems like its very early days.
I have heard the "dog fighting is a thing of the past" for decades at this point, they still keep building new fighters with guns. Im not yet convinced its true. With stealth and electronic warfare being more and more common, perhaps there will be a comeback?
In this particular case the AI didn't have an advantage because the plane was designed with a human pilot in mind and only the controls were changed. The difference will come when systems are designed without pilots in the first place. Also, the current war in Ukraine has shown that dogfights are basically a thing of the past.
Until a working prototype is built, I will be treating the field of warp drives (even sublight warp) with a healthy dose of skepticism. Glad people are working on it though.
It's not faster than light speed. So not so sci-fi. But yes, with the current tehnology is not possible to make. BUT the theory checks out. Maybe in 50 years.
More than that. Gravity is weak; gravity-based technologies inevitably need insane amounts of material to work. This particular metric also involves shedding mass, y'know, like a rocket would have anyway.
Wasn't this story posted already here? I don't want to rehash if I don't have to.
I left reddit after the API nonsense (which was to stop AI companies scraping their content), and I could see them selling their content for AI (or creating their own AI) coming a mile off. It's only ever about money
Depending on how it's implemented, it might very well be one of the non-creepy uses. As long as it isn't taken to extremes, being able to have a chance to say goodbye to your loved one could be therapeutic. Or to see them once a year during the Ghost Festival to help keep their memory alive.
It does have high creepy potential (all deepfakes do), but I can understand the appeal. Make sure you take some nice videos of the people you love, and let them take some of you. Death doesn't always come with a warning, and you don't want to be wishing you had some recordings.
Lab grown meat, as it is right now has a massive scalability problem which makes it impossible to produce it in industrial quantities
That said, the fact that this was signed into law means that there were multiple people in business and politics that decided to dedicate their time towards legislating a complete non issue. great Job!
I hope this news acts as a free advertisement for lab grown meat. Maybe conservatives will buy cultured chicken breast and shoot them with ARs for YouTube content?
That's not possible. The keyboard warriors were telling us that solar makes the grid unstable 5 years ago. And they obviously know what they are talking about
Maybe someone should go fetch them from their current anti-EV rants to educate us why solar is bad /s
