Does anyone else think that the monk who drew this Carolingian sketch had a crush on somebody at the abbey?

Yes! I see, great word. Do you know the word "parasocial", as in the artificial feeling of friendship one might feel toward a podcast host? Perhaps this is a form of "paraphilia". We don't know the subject of this drawing is an aquaintance or a historical saint.

The cathedral at Fleury also has this floor, made a thousand years ago from pieces of a Roman stones from around the world that one abbott - Gauzlin? - bought in northern Italy on a trip.

Not much is left of pre-Revolution Fleury Monastery but the doorway capper (lintel?) is pretty nice.

Longshot request: does anyone have an image of BL Harley MS 2736, fol. 108r? The British Library's images are still unavailable. Thanks!

The British Library says (as of May 1st) that "most" of its special collections are now available in the reading rooms.

Has anyone tested this? I'm eager to get back to a 9th c. MS for an article that's in review.

"Access to some archival and manuscript material is still restricted, but the majority of special collections held at St Pancras are now once again available."

Early medievalists: does anyone by chance have a copy of Frank Carey's typewritten list of MSS from St. Germain d'Auxerre? I've seen a dozen footnotes citing it but only as a photocopy at IRHT in France or the Vatican Library
-- Catal. I. 26.9 (int 22).

"MSS from the Scriptorium of Saint-Germain d 'Auxerre" (1956) 5pp

WorldCat doesn't know it. Not in IA or Google Books. Thanks!
