I think Biden's definition of xenophobic here is "unwilling to sacrifice everything in a suicidal world war on the Pacific front"

I'm sure we're participating in the insane Q level narrative sculpting they do in their media. I hate Indian news so much. Also especially by the tech companies which munch popcorn as the insane Hindutva pogroms you see like on the border with Bangladesh unfold thru their servuces, and want to use the country's cheap labor and poorly treated immigrant population (like from Bangladesh, as much as they act like they want to drive them out) to keep costs down on the packaging and testing side of semiconductors, and obv they have tried to enclose as much of their internet as possible worldwide like with the 2Africa cable (formerly known as Simba LOL). Silicon Valley is going to do everything possible to ensure imperial financiers have some form of enclosure of the communications infrastructure of the global south.

Man I can barely stomach my parents relaying what they pick up by osmosis while "avoiding the news" I would have a hard time not flipping out and disowning everyone in that situation, not that you should just abdicate to fake news that way lol

It's frustrating hearing Al Gore's strongest soldier consider the possibility of space laser wildfires "just for fun", but it's to be expected and more on-brand than it appears

OpenSSL goes GitHub only ( openssl.org )

We’re no longer using our old ftp, rsync, and git links for distributing OpenSSL. These were great in their day, but it’s time to move on to something better and safer. ftp://ftp.openssl.org and rsync://rsync.openssl.org are not available anymore. As of June 1, 2024, we’re also going to shut down https://ftp.openssl.org...

Maybe it will attract more development ? 🫣

Poast owner was bragging about poisoning the results Cloutier of Bird.Makeup gets from their server, if you use that service we need an alternative lol. Currently I use my friend's small Nitter.

From looking at their posts they were able to get enough performance to start caching popular tweets, that doesn't sound that expensive to me. Might get into hosting that soon but putting this out there in the hopes someone else does, I'm happy with my secluded option....

Torrenting exposes your public IP. In a country where government doesn't care, does that pose a risk?

I honestly don't believe I will have any legal trouble because I don't do anything like cp or worse, I just pirate media I like, not even porn. But across users of communities, or on public trackers, is IP exposure something to be concerned about?

Really disturbing offhand remark from OP ya

Also these people lawyers are surely building large network graphs to identify p2p traffic so one might as well give them less information about where other people are seeding to or torrenting from.

Is there any way I could find out how much of Windows' desktop share is coming directly from businesses?

New to Linux? Ubuntu Isn’t Your Only Option ( www.howtogeek.com )

Ubuntu's popularity often makes it the default choice for new Linux users. But there are tons of other Linux operating systems that deserve your attention. As such, I've highlighted some Ubuntu alternatives so you can choose based on your needs and requirements—because conformity is boring.

I think that's something that people should emphasize to Windows & MacOS/iOS users more, the problems are impossible for you to truly resolve, and the next update could make your program that fixes said problems obsolete, or makes it impossible to control what network traffic your computer sends entirely in order to torrent Windows Updates to other users. Linux has presented me with problems which can be solved in a variety of ways and really helpful troubleshooting resources that have a side benefit of introducing you to cute online groups of people who tend towards anti-corporate politics/incoherent left libertarian at a minimum
