aluminium , to Selfhosted in Open Source Server Overview App

Found too yesterday on F-Droid. Absoutley glorious, even runs perfectly smooth on a almost 10 year old Galaxy S6 Edge.

aluminium , to Android in Snapdragon 8 Gen 4: Adreno 830 GPU rumoured to launch with DLSS Frame Generation-like feature

There are new AAA games on Android? I know there are a bunch of upcomming "PC emulator" Apps but that shouldn't count.

So its easier now to unlock these rare prize cars now? That might pull me back in.

aluminium , (edited ) to Android in I made a tool to measure the battery impact of different Android web browsers - here's what I learned!

I have phone for every Snapdragon 800 Series until the 865, Every Kirin from the 930 to the 980 and all the 64 bit flagship Exynos until the S10 (9820) so could definitly provide some of these numbers in the next couple of days.

Also do you get any meaningful difference in the browser engine family? Like between Chromium, Brave and Vivaldi for example?

aluminium , to Android in Android’s new antitheft feature is now in testing

I mean EDL mode and BROM mode still exist...

aluminium , to Android in Motorola Edge (2024) coming to US with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 for $549 -9to5google

That is awfully expansive for a 7sGen2. Really this is the new 600 Series.

aluminium , to Technology in People want 'dumbphones'. Will companies make them?

No, I rather have a smarter phone without all the current day B.S.

aluminium , to Programmer Humor in Let's do micro service

Typical issue of the corportate programming world being a hivemind. Just because many big tech companies use it you can't blindly implement it for your 5 developer team.

And it for sure has its usecases - like if you run something with constant load swings that does n't need to be 100 percent accurate like Youtube it makes sense. You can have a service for searches, comments, transcoding, recommendations, ... which all scale independently trading in some accuracy. Like when you post a comment another person doesn't need to see it within 1 second on another comment service instance.

Xbox is a reverse midas. Everything they touch turns into shit.

aluminium , to Games in Microsoft Closes Redfall Developer Arkane Austin, Hi-Fi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks, and More in Devastating Cuts at Bethesda

You close Tango the developers behind your only recent good game, but keep 343 open. Ok Phil.

aluminium , to No Stupid Questions in [Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

I really don't care what others eat but a lot just of vegans, especially the ones who take it super serious, I had to deal with have just a aura of passive agressive judgmental smugness. Vegetarians not at all from my experience.
