IIRC it was something like a fraction of a fraction of 1% that was CSAM, with the researchers identifying the images through their hashes but they weren't actually available in the dataset because they had already been removed from the internet.

Still, you could make AI CSAM even if you were 100% sure that none of the training images included it since that's what these models are made for - being able to combine concepts without needing to have seen them before. If you hold the AI's hand enough with prompt engineering, textual inversion and img2img you can get it to generate pretty much anything. That's the power and danger of these things.

Although I don't have kids everything I've heard about the Ruby Franke/8 Passengers case made my blood boil. That scumbag saw her kids as nothing but a way to get clicks and money, and I'm glad that she's going to rot in prison.

And related to this, add animal abuse to the list of things that make my blood boil too. It's wild to think that until recently there was such a thing as a thriving "monkey torture network".

Honestly I'm already not a big fan of Windows 10 so if Microsoft tries to force me to download Windows 11 with all these nonsense AI features that spy on you I'm just gonna switch to Linux

A while back on R*ddit I had this discussion with a "libertarian" where they unironically defended the idea that local communities should be able to dictate people's clothes. Kind of tangential but towards the end of HS we had this ongoing trend of wearing costumes to school every wednesday. Some of the class participated more often than others, some (including me) barely participated at all.

There was one week where everyone was determined to participate though, because we had planned for boys to go dressed as girls and vice-versa. I still didn't really care to join them but some friends of mine said they'd lend me some of their clothes and makeup so I'd have no excuse to not participate.

What I didn't anticipate is that they'd dress me up just like the guy in the pic, only difference being that I'm underweight, not overweight. Still looked like a fool though, but that was part of the fun, not some pseudo political statement.

Anyways, tangent over.
