there were a couple things that I hated about their overpromising on the front end; the uniform procedurally built worlds (there’s no real variety of terrain like Earth), the repetitive assets for structures (they’re all the same), planets don’t actually revolve around anything And you can’t fly between systems (they’re boxes, it’s not open. The only way from one system to the other is a loading screen hidden behind a warp animation).
Funny thing, I couldn’t figure out how to use the higher tier magic you got from the stones you collected. I played the whole game using the base spells you got from the environment. I wish Google were around back then to figure that one out.
Reminds me of ordering* ‘Cajun fries’ at that one American fast food diner with the black and white checkerboard. They literally charge you a quarter more to sprinkle the same Cajun seasoning that’s on your table. Holy fuck… I was more than a little pissed when I saw that after sitting down.
And this is why I don’t read the article, there’s no point. Kind strangers like you will do it for me. Read the material, digest it, and give me the important parts up front. That’s what I love about forums like Reddit and Lemmy. Someone* else more educated on the subject will confidently explain what I need to know and give me my opinion directly. It makes 1., being an internet activist like myself, and 2., being an informed adult, so much easier.
Edit: to break the fourth wall here, though, I’m more making fun of myself and the environment than anyone else, especially anyone else in particular. So, if you feel a little guilty, then self awareness is good. But, if you feel like I’m throwing serious shade at you or your friends… that’s not the intent, but again self awareness is good.
I see no sources, but I’m an internet armchair activist with no prior knowledge of the subject, nor any in the field, and the confidence and words in which you described your position have convinced me and won me over. You’ve won this internet argument and have my vote.
