Yeah everyone uses WhatsApp when I travel to other countries.

Tesla is recalling its Cybertruck for the fourth time to fix problems with trim pieces that can come loose and front windshield wipers that can fail | The new recalls each affect over 11,000 trucks ( apnews.com )

The company says in the documents that the front windshield wiper motor controller can stop working because it’s getting too much electrical current. A wiper that fails can cut visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. The Austin, Texas, company says it knows of no crashes or injuries caused by the problem....

Never buy the first model year of any vehicle. And that includes new generations with the same model name. They always have the most problems the first year, so you're just paying to be a beta tester.

That doesn't sound like a design that would work in an apartment building. How do neighbouring apartments connect?

Maybe you can draw it out? My guess is that it's actually just a big rectangle when you figure out where the bathrooms and closets are.

[SOLVED] Accidently damaged an MicroSD by pulling it before it had fully ejected

I accidentally removed a MicroSD card from an Android device running Android 12 while it was being ejected. This happened because it took longer than usual (less than a few seconds), and I pulled it out without looking at the notification. Now, when I insert the MicroSD card into any Android device, it tells me to format it to...

I had no backup, as I always considered my MicroSD as an external storage medium for such data.

I know you're not looking for advice that would have been great before things went wrong, but... When they say to have a backup up on external storage, they don't mean make the backup and then delete the original. Then the "backup" is just the original.

Also, I don't think that microSD life expectancy is that great. I wouldn't it trust it as a sole keeper of backups.

Good luck.

As the elected Prime Minister, you get automatic top secret security clearance. The expectation is that the democratic process would have put the person in power, so we want that person to do whatever they wish with that top secret information. Otherwise, we would be losing the power of the people and putting it in the hands of CSIS.

All appointed ministers do get security screening, as that was put in place by Harper, I think. As a leader of the opposition, Poilievre wouldn't be subject to those requirements.

As far as I know there's nothing to indicate that he wouldn't pass the check. He just doesn't want to get the security check and get the inside info, because that would limit what attacks he could make. As an outsider he can spout off whatever drivel he wants.

So, if he doesn't pass your security screening, citizen, get out and vote.

Isn't that the point? This new layer is supposed to make it easier to port everything, and they're saying that's what Rosetta did for Apple/Mac.

Fair enough, but to the end user it doesn't matter if it works.

So, the owner of this specific store posted it. As much as I hate how Loblaws has been capitalizing on peoples’ needs, this isn’t Loblaws, it’s the owner of one store.

Do you know that for sure? I found this from seven months ago, if it's the same manager, he seems to be getting away with it:

Pharmacy Assistant vs Volunteer

I've applied to about 15 SDM branches across Toronto for the past month until today. My applications were mixed. Even if I applied online, I also visit the branch to personally drop my resume. There was this one branch who told me that it's nearly impossible to get inside SDM as a pharmacy assistant without Canadian pharmacy experience. I was a licensed pharmacist in my home country and I practiced clinical pharmacy for over 2 years.

According to him, the best way to get in the system and their records will be as a volunteer. He was kinda of disappointed with how the system works, claiming that SDM encourages volunteerism to save a lot on training costs. Is it true that being a volunteer will help me out once there is a vacancy or an opening for a pharmacy assistant slot? Can I use it on my future applications as well?

Wait, you're saying "liberal"="pro-israel"? Isn't that more of a republican/conservative thing?

JohnnyCanuck ,
@JohnnyCanuck@lemmy.ca avatar

Yeah, fair. I think that's why I found associating liberalism with being pro-israel weird.

JohnnyCanuck ,
@JohnnyCanuck@lemmy.ca avatar

Maybe there happen to be a bunch of pro-israel liberals on Reddit, but I don't think that means "liberal"="pro-israel".

I guess coming from Canada it's a different perspective since we have the separate Liberal and Conservative parties skewing the definition, and the Liberals, while certainly being pro-capitalism, also support social justice, and are not exactly pro-israel right now.

I didn't say I confused it with something else. I didn't imply anyone would confuse it with something else. Congratulations to everyone who already knew what it was.

Every item they steal as a knockoff to generously offer us suckers as “value” takes money away from food suppliers, who then have less leverage to negotiate.

Which knockoffs are you talking about? (I'm not challenging you, I'm genuinely interested.)

I've been a regular No Name at No Frills shopper (and store brand shopper in general) for a long time, especially for staples like flour, because I hate how much the name brands charge for basicly the same thing. I used to get my produce at a local shop but it's gone now :(

Why do Pixels and Samsungs have such restricted mobile data features?

I am trying to set up a plan with a smaller carrier, but I have a feeling that since they are not on Google's allowlist (even though I live in Canada), they will not let me use 5G with them. The Pixel watch supported carrier list also makes no sense, because for some reason the new carriers for the watch 2 don't support the...

The Pixel watch supported carrier list also makes no sense, because for some reason the new carriers for the watch 2 don't support the first version?

They often don't update the list for older devices. The supported list is whatever it was when the device came out.

I actually don't know what you mean by "Google's allowlist" but the underlying carrier might matter more than whatever small "carrier" you want to go with. E.g. Telus, Bell, Rogers(/Shaw), Videotron basically run all of the cell networks and then lease them out to the small carriers (which they actually either own, or will eventually).

So if those big guys are on the list, you're probably fine (but I don't actually know how it works). You can google "{name of carrier} mobile network" to find out whose network(s) they're on.
