At the time it was fine. I had an array of 4tb drives that I was backing up with a series of 5gb drives. They were just so unreliable; all but one failed while the array they backed up is still spinning strong.
absolutely nothing, it's my preferred distro (and I have the grey beard to match). what I mean is that despite not using Ubuntu (or honestly even liking it that much), I give it a pass since it's the offspring of my preffered flavor.
bingo, I enjoy the stabilty and simplicity for my servers but I wouldn't run vanilla debian for a desktop. ironically I tend to use Linux Mint for desktop which I guess is a grandchild then, since it's based on Ubuntu :). oops, I use LMDE, not Mint.. forgot that I switched a while back since it's directly debian based.

I feel like they belong in separate categories though. Lawnmower man was regular bad, like it started as something that had value but effects and writing just weren’t up to where they should have been resulting in a hilarious, guilty pleasure mess.
Battlefield earth never stood a chance, everything about it was cursed start to finish and was a complete vanity project by a religious weirdo. There’s just plain guilt with it, no pleasure.
I have an m2 iPad pro. The last thing it needs is more processing power, what it needs is better software to make use of the power that it has. I’d love to run full OS X on it considering I paid more than some MacBooks.
I feel the same way. I feel like we used to buy things and hold onto them for a while, nowadays, everything seems to be designed to have a single year lifecycle. I like AirPods but now that their battery died and I can’t replace them, I’m looking at going back to the cord. But now of course we’re in dongle hell since there’s only one port..

Feels like the automotive world is in utter chaos. I do believe in EVs and hybrids but manufacturers have focused on the premium segment to their own detriment. If they had started with the MVP instead of a flagship things might be in a different situation.
Yes, I am an aware of the Tesla strategy of starting high end but they seem to have abandoned that goal in favor of prestige meme wagons.
I wish I could figure out if I have it. I asked my doctor how to get diagnosed, he said I’d need to talk to a psychiatrist. I got a referral and tried to setup and appointment but they said I couldn’t be tested since I have no history of it. They instead want to put me on antidepressants but I’ve gone through enough of them to know that ain’t what my issue is.
Mental health care in this country is a fucking joke.
I honestly don’t want to be medicated, but I’d like a diagnosis to help me find strategies. I’m middle aged so have figured out how to live with the brain I have but it would be nice to not have to struggle against my nature so much.
I’m probably just lazy or easily distracted, or disorganized, etc. and am looking for excuses.
Good advice, thanks. I am not ruling out medication, but I would hesitate to put one of my kids on it if they were diagnosed and so I am hesitant for the same reasons. The reason I’d like a diagnosis though is that I am pathologically unable to act without data. I’d feel like a complete imposter at an ADHD event unless I was sure I was one of the ranks.
Yep, arrived during the initial digg exodus, had tens of thousands of posts at Reddit, modded two subreddits. Closed my account the day during the protests and haven’t been back.
I’m not as active here, mostly due to a busier life but found a new home anyway.
