4am , to Selfhosted in [solved] Using Nextcloud as a directory/folder/remote location

WebDAV, as others have said

4am , to Linux in What would an ENSH*TTIFIED Linux distro look like? [video]

GNU/ME

4am , to Technology in Windows 11 just isn't enticing Windows 10 users to upgrade, and its market share is actually falling

There’s a lot more telemetry. They’re stuffing ads into it (start menu, explorer panels, etc). They’re creeping generative cloud AI into it. The control panel/setting situation is unbelievably unfinished (for myself, all my audio devices take the name of other audio devices so they’re all working but mislabeled). A recent update broke all VPNs. High system requirements. Locking down features. Removal of customization. Buggy updates. Slow.

4am , to Games in Take-Two Interactive shuts down the Studios behind Kerbal Space Program and Rollerdrome

Great, two games I loved (well, I was waiting for KSP2 to get good…)

Rollerdrome was fantastic and KSP1 is legendary. This sucks ass.

4am , to Technology in Microsoft's latest Windows update breaks VPNs, and there's no fix

Bounced on my boy’s Raycons to this for hours

4am , to Technology in Bitwarden has launched a new authenticator app

MS not trustworthy

4am , to Technology in Bitwarden has launched a new authenticator app

TOTP in the Bitwarden Vault is a paid feature.
The standalone app is free, and doesn’t even require a Bitwarden account.

This allows free tier users a way to use TOTP without upgrading, and without needing to trust Google Authenticator or something else.

4am , to Technology in China unveils video of its moon base plans, which weirdly includes a NASA space shuttle

Everything you used to write this comment was at least partially made in China, let’s not pretend after 40 years of the world outsourcing to them that the don’t have the skill, infrastructure, or money to do what America did in the 70s.

Yeah that’s not great for the USA trying to maintain its position on top, but just because it sucks for us doesn’t mean it ain’t true.

We literally sold them our future for short term gains.

4am , to World News in Saved from her dead mother's womb, baby Sabreen was laid to rest in a mournful and sometimes angry funeral

If you have a problem understanding this headline, the problem is you, not the headline

4am , to Not The Onion in Tesla Owner Calls Police on Rivian Driver Using Supercharger

You saw a lot of dumbasses who could just pull up to the gas pump facing the other direction and solve their problem easily

4am , to Programmer Humor in Touch a file in Linux

“Do one thing and do it very well” is the UNIX philosophy after all; if you’re 99% likely to just create that missing file after you get a file not found error, why should touch waste your time?

4am , to Linux in A Day in the Life of a Linux Noob or How to Break Your System

I work on a lot of Linux servers over ssh; no gui, completely headless.

What the fuck is going on over in desktop land that installing the wrong spellchecker is breaking your package manager??

Shit man, get it together

4am , to Ask Lemmy in How was Rudy Guiliani as mayor of NYC?

He fought the Italian mob because he was in the pocket of the Russian mob.

He shut down a lot of clubs and nightlife in NYC, basically ruined the underground scene there and left “clubs” to be bottle service for rich assholes.

He’s a fucking fascist piece of shit and he deserves to lose everything.

4am , to World News in Right-wing U.S. media covered fiction as fact: A non-existent terrorist attack from Canada at Rainbow Bridge

You know the answer. Because the lawmakers rising to power are beholden to the propaganda machine that got them there (and probably can blackmail them)

4am , to ADHD memes in Sensory issues

Computer noises are the focus in the festival setting, it’s not a distraction.

Pen clicks are little momentary brain erasers that rip the attention you’re so desperately trying to focus away from the thing you’re focusing on, and now you have to struggle constantly to get it back with each one.

Pen clicks would be no problem if you were intentionally focusing on someone clicking their pen.
