“BRITAIN GREENLIT DOZENS OF ARMS DEALS WITH ISRAEL AMID GAZA WAR: Trade secretary Kemi Badenoch kept arming Israel throughout its brutal onslaught on Gaza, new data reveals.”
“[UK Trade Secretary] Kemi #Badenoch has not stopped any arms deals with Israel since October 7, instead allowing British companies to export components for military aircraft.”
[..]
“The UK government’s decision to greenlight more than 100 such export deals with Israel over the last eight months could open up British ministers to international arrest applications over complicity in war crimes.
Emily Apple from Campaign Against Arms Trade (#CAAT) told Declassified: ‘These figures show that it’s business as usual for arms dealers to break international law and continue arming Israel’s genocide.
‘The #Conservative government and the UK arms trade are complicit in the horrendous war crimes that Israel is committing against Palestinian people in Gaza.’”
“Everything about Israel is fake. It’s a completely synthetic nation created without any regard for the organic sociopolitical movements of the land and its people, slapped rootless atop an ancient pre-existing civilization with deep roots. That’s why it cannot exist without being artificially propped up by nonstop propaganda, lobbying, online influence operations, and mass military violence.”
#Palestine / ‘Instead of a scream’: the Palestinian artist who does a Gaza drawing every day
[…] Drawing and posting online daily became the only way to reassure my friends, after all communication and social media were cut but later partly restored. My drawings, in which I document the war with all its cruel scenes, have become the message through which I inform friends: “I am still alive.”
#Palestine / Right-wing Israeli ministers call to reoccupy Gaza and push for the transfer of Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip
Thousands of Israelis joined a march on the so called Israeli “Independence Day”, calling for resettling the Gaza Strip and facilitating the transfer of Palestinians from Gaza. Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir spoke at the march advocating resettling Gaza with Israeli forces and settlers.
Ben-Gvir said the "true solution" is for Israel to "return to Gaza now" and to "encourage what he calls “voluntary emigration" of Gazans, concluding "It is moral!" An MK from the Religious Zionism party blamed the 2005 Israeli withdrawal from Gaza for recent violence, stating "The responsibility for the October 7 massacre lies with those who expelled the Jews from Gush Katif."
#US / Union Theological Seminary trustees endorse divestment from ‘companies profiting from the war in Palestine’
[...] “Our investment policies will continue to adapt, guided by our values, to strengthen the resolve that undergirds our decision today, [...] We do not take this step lightly, and we do so with all humility, recognizing that our work on the global stage is far from finished. Although our investments in the war in Palestine are small because our previous, strong anti-armament screens are robust, we hope that our action today will bring needed pressure to bear to stop the killing and find a peaceful future for all.”

[...] The conference, organised by the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) and the UN's humanitarian coordination agency OCHA, said the funds would be dispersed over two years, with the possibility of extension, in efforts to support life-saving humanitarian interventions in the Palestinian territory.
#EU / Spain, Ireland to recognise Palestinian state on May 21 - EU's Borrell
[...] Asked on local Spanish radio station RNE if May 21 was when Spain, Ireland and other EU countries would recognise a Palestinian state, Borrell said yes, mentioning #Slovenia as well.
"This is a symbolic act of a political nature. More than a state, it recognises the will for that state to exist," he said, adding that #Belgium and other countries would probably follow.

The Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (Crue), representing 77 public and private universities, has denounced the "very serious events" in Gaza and called for an "immediate and definitive cessation of military operations by the Israeli army" and "any terrorist action."
