@aapis If there wasn't a video, this wouldn't even be a case, but the video clearly shows how they PASSED 2 ambulances without handing over the injured.
It is just sickening to read the media cover this outrageous act like they do not have access to the video like the rest of us.
Way back in the 1980s, when I was in college, we had a tent city on the UC Berkeley campus to protest the Apartheid regime in South Africa. Lots of parallels to what's been happening on campuses recently with the Palestinian solidarity protests, including violent police crack downs.
During this time, author Kurt Vonnegut came to speak in support of the movement, and against Apartheid.
I recently found this amusing clip
of Vonnegut explaining the different types of character arcs a story can have.
[…] We’re heeding the call from over 1000 #Google and #Amazon workers to rise up against the contract, known as Project Nimbus. Technology should be used to bring people together, not enable #apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and settler-colonialism. Following in the footsteps of those who fought to divest from apartheid South Africa and won, it’s our responsibility to rise up in support of Palestinian freedom. The Amazon and Google execs who signed this contract can still choose to be on the right side of history.
Demand Amazon & Google stop doing business with Israeli apartheid & powering the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza
@zorg yes indeed .. I was prompted by this news report about STEM students petition, but forgot to include it :(
Over 1,100 STEM students and young workers from 120+ universities have signed a pledge to boycott Google and Amazon by refusing to take jobs or internships until the companies end their involvement in Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion contract providing cloud computing services to the Israeli government. The pledge, organized by No Tech for Apartheid, aims to pressure Google and Amazon to divest from Project Nimbus, which critics argue enables Israeli apartheid and violence against Palestinians.
@faab64 There's an article I can't find at the moment containing the (approximate) lines: “Where are the Palestinian Gandhis, they ask? They're in Israeli prison cells.”
The exact quote is:
»Where are the Palestinian Gandhis and MLKs? They are in Israeli jails.
When people try to protest non-violently, they are beaten, teargassed, and jailed. Despite what is told in the media, Palestinians have long engaged in non-violent resistance in their quest for liberation.«
@bifouba throughout history, Israel has been extremely violent against peaceful protesters and leaders who don't call for it's destruction.
They KNOW that the passive and indifference masses western population may change rapidly if they no longer see palestinians as bloodthirsty savages who's only interest is to start a new holocaust.
That's one of the main reasons Netanyahu ordered the assassinated architect of the one and only hostage exchange in Lebanon.
But Israel's arrogance and savagery have become it's worst enemy and with social media, the vast majority of people have seen the true face of the Israeli treatment of palestinians.
Young people who were not brainwashed for decades have seen the real Palestine. And that's why Israel has been using all it's power to prevent real and uncensored news from Gaza. Either by killing the reporters, censoring the internet or forbidding apps like TikTok, telegram and "signal"
Israeli Jewish-supremacist Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir: "Every house in #Gaza has a picture of Al-Aqsa Mosque. We must break into their holiest site."
Why isn't this monster sanctioned by the western leaders? How far does he need to go before they take action against this JewishLKK leader?
Can we treat this monster like holocaust deniers at least?or is it too much to ask?
@faab64@palestine@israel I'm from Mexico. Almost all the important churches built in colonial times were built on top of prehispanic religious centers ("pyramids"). The main cathedral in Mexico city was built atop the so called "Major Temple" (temple mayor) and there are some churches, like the one at Cholula, where you can see the base of the "pyramid" beneath the catholic church.
Do not expect him to be listed as a hostage in the list of those demanding release of the #hostages: The father of Ahed Tamimi was #kidnapped by Israeli forces
Bassem #Tamimi The father of Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi was kidnapped by Israeli #occupation forces from the village of #NabiSaleh in October 2023. His family has not heard from him since then.
#Spain / Rallies in Madrid on 18 and 19 May amid political summit by Spain’s Vox party, including Israel's Minister of Diaspora Affairs (Amichai Chikli)
[...] The summit will reportedly be attended by representatives of various right-wing parties across Europe, leading several Spanish left-wing organisations to lead protests condemning the summit. Several thousand people are likely to attend.
Chikli not mentioned, but was reported to be attending.
Chikli is continuing Netanyahu's work of portraying Palestinian resistance to their 76 year long occupation as a form of #antisemitism by embracing actual neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and Christian nationalists who are doing Israel's bidding (at least for the time being). https://leftodon.social/@Gomeravid/112463747129631039
#Israel / On the Jewish State’s absurd policy of the right of “return”, if you’re not a Palestinian that is
[from a column in which the reporter talks to people passing through TLV's airport]
Q: … And we thought we were the “after the wars” generation
A: […] And now we're here, and I feel a strange sense of obligation. In the most basic human sense, I came here from somewhere, the government gave me money, gave my brother a school, essentially funded an entire year of really good living for my family, just because we're Jewish. I always knew I was Jewish, my mother worked in the Jewish education system in Russia and I went to a Jewish kindergarten and school. But it was something on the periphery of my thinking, and now it's more central.
Q: What surprised you the most when you moved here?
A: All the people I ever knew in Russia, everyone I ever met, is here now. I don't think I have a single acquaintance left in St. Petersburg.
@oatmeal
When I once worked at a government office, an employee told me there was a scam going on around the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union whereby people would claim to be Jewish in order to get to Israel.
Then they would get to Canada and apply for asylum here, claiming that they're being discriminated against in Israel because they're not Jewish! @israel@palestine
@rjohnston very familiar to most Israelis … the demographic manipulation attempt started in the 1980s with PM Shamir … it didn’t end well for Israelis but incredibly well for the settlers and the right, since many of the ones that did stay are definitely not liberals. Their politicians are even worse.
There was an arrangement to prevent them from going straight to the US. I think the estimate in Israel was that a minimum of 30% are not Jewish at all. A friend of mine arrived in Israel because he married a Jewish girl, and that qualified him as well. Had he been a Palestinian, he wouldn’t have been allowed in.
If there’s such a thing as “birth right”, Palestinians are for sure the best qualified, not Russians.
#Israel / Zionism cannot produce a just peace. Only external pressure can end the Israeli apartheid. @raph), May 2021]
#Zionism has created a dominant narrative in Israel that justifies the occupation and human rights violations against Palestinians. This narrative portrays Israel as acting in self-defense, Palestinians as unwilling to compromise for peace, and justifies the occupation, discrimination, and human rights violations against Palestinians.
Only external pressure can meaningfully push Israel to end the occupation and achieve a just peace.
The post is from 2021. So before the current war in Gaza.
Israel is occupying Palestinian lands since 1948. Way before #Hamas even existed. So the conflict has nothing to do with the Hamas, and everything to do with said occupation. dont you think?
Settlers mobs south of #AlKhalil in the #WestBank set fire to the aid trucks that they stopped and damaged this afternoon, which were loaded with aid and headed to the #Gaza Strip.
No sign of Israeli police of IDF to protect the convoy or stop the terrorists settlers from destroying aid packages, mostly baby formula, diapers and medical equipment.
"...S̷e̷t̷t̷l̷e̷r̷s̷ Blackshirt mobs..." Ps. Call them what they are when they aren't busy with the thugging thingie: Armed Squatters, not settlers. @faab64@palestine@israel
#Palestine / Impunity persists two years after the Israeli army’s murder of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh
[...] Two years after the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh in the West Bank, and a year after Israel's official apology acknowledging its responsibility, justice has yet to be delivered for the emblematic Al Jazeera journalist. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) condemns this impunity and calls on the international community, especially the United States, to exert pressure on the Israeli army to answer for Abu Akleh’s killing.
Earlier today, Israeli settlers launched an attack on the #UNRWA headquarters in occupied #Jerusalem, setting fire to its surroundings. Israeli authorities have not intervened or made any arrests among the Israeli attackers.
1/3 Inaccuracies of the #NYT story ('ScreamsWithoutWords) and Sheryl Sandberg's new ridiculous hoax movie effort based on the shoddy, unsupported, unretracted mass r@pe NYT story. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6lcwepx4Nw/
This debunking is important since US audiences are primed to believe Palestinians are guilty of everything being suggested or done to them and more. (Sound familiar? #Superpredators, anyone?)
Every accusation is an admission with the #Zionist apartheid state currently committing genocide - so that's the bit you'd do well to watch out for.
Once you mention #Hamas, thinking stops in the USian brain, and Bush style "terrorism bad" ensues. They cannot tell the difference between resistance to occupation and terrorism, so occupation, apartheid and genocide are excused once you say Hamas. Don't be that guy.
3/3
1st, the NYT began backing away from the stories and claims of the article. Now, Sandberg is publicizing a movie or supposed documentary about the sexual violence in the debunked NYT story.
