Seems like an application specific thing.

I run android 14 and I only get this on certain apps (gmscore for example).

Looks like a notification bar. Just a wild guess, but maybe there's an invisible notification causing it to auto-display. If so, you might be able to fix it by limiting notifications for the app.

You can use bitwarden for passwords.

Sync what you can based on your threat model.

I backup what I can into a folder and then sync that to my backup drive.
There are no way to backup app preferences without root.

Isn’t it that all of what you want to back up already is backed up via the Google cloud? (Except sideloaded APKs)

At my last upgrade, the new phone asked if I wanted to get stuff from my old phone, then walked me through it. Was a pretty decent amount of data and it didn't take all that long. As i recall, it was Bluetooth, but there was an option to use a cable.

for big file transfers, I suggest using ftp.

run an ftp server on one, client on the other, and copy.

I use Solid Explorer.

I've done a few multi-thousand photo transfers for people at work and I've found the "thumbnails" folder really screws up the process. Try connecting your old phone to PC, opening the DCIM folder, and transferring just the "Camera" folder to PC, then plug in the new phone and transfer it back.

I had a similar issue just this week with 2 unintended phone calls happening under a similar situation.

My aux cord was connected via blue tooth, though...

Anywho, the blue tooth to aux converter had a dial button on it that kept getting bumped into.

Only reason I share, maybe your issue is as simple as that also.

Material Files foss is the best one i found a year back and never looked back.

You can open a second or third instance of material files via the three dots menu. You then have the app multiple times open and can copy/cut and paste between them.

Its not quite two panes but maybe better on a small screen. Its also a feature that's easy to miss.

AndSMB had been good to me for connecting to my nas and other shares. It's not the most polished but it is exceptionally reliable.
