Chinese President Xi Jinping is on his first trip to Europe in five years, which is likely to be dominated by Russia’s war in Ukraine as well as economic strains between Beijing and Brussels.

The first stop will be France, with Xi due to hold talks in Paris on May 6 with French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, before travelling south to the Pyrenees.

After that, he will travel to Serbia and Hungary, two countries that have maintained close ties with Russia despite its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

But the trip also comes amid a deteriorating global security climate, with the war in Ukraine now into its third year and at least 34,683 Palestinians killed in Israel’s ongoing bombardment of Gaza.

Rage Against the Machine played a show during the 2000 Democratic National Convention in protest of the two-party system, and despite pushes from the City of Los Angeles to force them to play a small venue across the city from the DNC, they were allowed by a judge to play across the street from the event. LAPD security measures included a 12-foot high fence and about 2,000 officers in riot gear. After the performance, numerous attendees provoked police, causing them to declare unlawful assembly, and a riot broke out ending in violence and arrests.

In a 1991 interview with Melody Maker, Chuck D of Public Enemy explained:

‘Can’t Truss It’ is about how the corporate world of today is just a different kind of slavery. We don’t control what we create. And because of the media, we don’t control the way we think or run our lives. We’ve got to limit working for a situation that’s other than ours. We have no ownership of anything. If you don’t own business, then you don’t have jobs. White people have jobs because they have business. They have institutions that teach them how to live in America. Black people don’t have institutions that teach them how to deal with s–t. The Number One institution that teaches you how to deal is the family, but slavery f–ked that up. So the song is about the ongoing cost of the holocaust. There was a Jewish holocaust, but there’s a black holocaust that people still choose to ignore."

As some peeps in the US say: "NATO is a terrorist organization."

Just more pushing China and Russia together, while better for our military companies for WW3, much profits to be had.

China’s hostility to Nato is part of the reason why Beijing has maintained its support for Moscow since the invasion of Ukraine. Xi’s visit will “remind the world that although China and Serbia are geographically separated by the Eurasian continent, they share the same security interests. We need to strengthen our cooperation to overcome the security threats from the US and Nato,” Shen says.

In an A.V. Club interview, when asked about how autobiographical this song is, Lupe responded with a negation:

“Kick, Push” isn’t about me. It’s about this kid by the name of Ken. He’s not even a kid, really, he’s in his 20s. That song is his life exaggerated with maybe a few stories of a few other people, and then some stuff I fabricated. I just added some of the stuff that I knew from being a skateboarder into eit.

Upon being asked about its reception among skateboarders, Lupe talked about its positive reception and his discomfort with being dubbed a “spokesperson” after it took off because of its irrelevance to the album as a whole:

They love it. The OGs love it. The new kids, even the kids who weren’t skaters, who became skaters because of “Kick, Push.” [F]or the most part, it’s been good with people like Tony Hawk and Steve Williams. [But] I always shunned [being] at the top of skateboarding royalty, I’m with Tony Hawk and Steve Williams, and with these people and this company, but I was often like, “Yo, I don’t want to do this photo shoot with a skateboard.” What really killed me was that people were trying to pigeonhole me, and magazines would get mad because I didn’t want to do their photo shoot with a skateboard. Then when the album came out, people forgot about “Kick, Push.” The rest of the album had nothing to do with skateboarding. And they said, “Oh, now we see why you didn’t want to be the spokesperson for skateboarding.” The album had nothing to do with skateboarding. It was just little things like that.

From Team Kendrick:

  • When rigor mortis occurs within a corpse, its muscles tighten, causing the body to become stiff and very difficult to move. The chemical reaction makes all blood gravitate to the areas of the body that are closest to the ground, leaving colorful spots as an indication of life that once existed. As the soul escapes, toxins remain causing the corpse to rot and decompose. This is the fate that Kendrick Lamar has deemed onto the competition, more commonly known as your favorite rapper. Amen!
  • Death can be so beautiful at times. Boasting bars as mad as Marilyn Manson, one grim rapper emerges to hold hip hop ransom. Hailing from Compton, Los Angeles, one of America’s most neglected graveyards, Kendrick yields his sickle (ballpoint pen) to pry open the caskets of lyricism, musicianship, and tradition. The emcee, once known as K. Dot, hence displays an air of irony in his verses, murdering the fraudulent with the same weapon used for shedding light on realness.
  • Section.80 was released in the first week of July and continues to receive steady rotation from barbershop stereos to iPods on college campuses. A clear game changer, his debut album is dynamic in the sense that it brings forth the story of a generation incubated in the years of Reaganomics, while projecting the rebellious voice of a youth discontented by society’s harsh inflictions.
  • Directors, The ICU caught up with Kendrick Lamar at various locations throughout New York City to shoot this highly anticipated video off of Section 80. Accompanied by a triumphant three piece brass section, this funeral procession is not a mournful event, but rather a triumphant proclamation for a resurrecting art form. Chuuuch!

“No Problem” is Chance’s warning to all the record labels that give him problems while he’s trying to make his music. He’s not having any of it, and he’ll take action if they don’t stop messing with him.

The song was originally teased on Chance’s Snapchat in January 2016 and premiered as an exclusive in Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio program ahead of his album Coloring Book (then Chance 3), which was released the following day. It features 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne, who recently collaborated on their album, Collegrove.

Lil Wayne also teased his guest verse in March 2016. While doing a live stream in LiVideo, Tunechi said:

Right now I’m on the studio bus, I’m working on a feature song for Chance The Rapper, shout out Chance The Rapper.

It makes sense that Chance recruited Lil Wayne to rap on this song because of his longterm and public disputes with his label, Cash Money.

Additionally, this song won a Grammy for “Best Rap Performance” and was nominated for “Best Rap Song” in 2017, being the first streaming-only song to be nominated and receive a Grammy.

It didn’t stem from [the election], but it just happened to fall around that time. The song can be used in that way. It can [be used like that] because it’s up to people and their interpretation of a song. You can say it, but it’s not really a political song. I don’t want it to be viewed as a political song because it’s not really that kind of song. But I’m happy that people take it as strength in these times. It’s for the people in the United States to reassure that there’s a feeling inside that were lions.

Besides my family and what we strive to write about, what we put into this world, the election was going on. But is not a political song. But it weighs onto that too. I’ll leave it up to the people to determine how they interpret this song, because I don’t dabble in none of that stuff.

“Boss” has a ‘90s, sort of hip-hop underground feel. It was more of a statement. I guess it’s kinda difficult to make that stuff cut through ‘cause everything is like, I dunno, digitalised…

‘Boss’ is just me going off, really. It’s super raw, cutting edge. It’s just very raw. I remember when I recorded it, I recorded it on a shitty little hand-held [mic]. I recorded the rest of the album on this really nice, crispy [one]. I thought, “I need to re-record ‘Boss’ on this other really nice mic”, to make everything feel consistent. I thought I could add the distortion and the effects later. So I actually did. I recorded it and it just lost some of the magic. We decided to keep it [the original version] and it turned out perfectly.

Kendrick Lamar kicked off his May 3, 2024 with the surprise release of “6:16 in LA,” the diss track that followed up “euphoria” and preceded a Drake response. Fourteen hours later, Drake uploaded “FAMILY MATTERS” to YouTube—which Kendrick used this as fuel to unleash his sinister “meet the grahams.”

As the title implies, Kendrick sends a personal letter to each member of the Graham family and shares secrets about Drake that they, and the listeners, have never known about prior to this release. Kendrick most notably reveals the existence of Drake’s alleged 11-year-old daughter—along with other unspecified children.

Beyond addressing the Grahams, Kendrick attacks other aspects of Drake’s character. He claims Drizzy is addicted to prescription pills (displayed in the song cover), compares him to the disgraced Harvey Weinstein, claims he has sex offenders on payroll within OVO Sound, and that he is a pedophile. In response to the diss, Drake has denied having a secret daughter via his Instagram story.

This track’s cover art—zoomed out from the “6:16 in LA” cover—displays stolen items from Drake’s father’s suitcase that belong to Drake. Amongst these items include Ozempic and Zolpidem pills belonging to Drake and outrageous receipts of Drake’s jewelry purchases.

Caring for working class people dying is being a Putin fan?

@iAmTheTot comments:

  1. Nah I'll care about all humans now, thanks.
  1. I don't have a direct line to Putin to take it up with him.

2a. Valuing human life isn't coming across as approval of Putin's actions, is it? Cause that would be a weird conclusion to draw, imho.

  1. Yes, I think it is weird. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is unconscionable and tragic. This view does not conflict with expressing remorse that 100 human beings were killed in the blink of an eye. The fact that you think holding the latter opinion means the person must be making a political statement is sad.

Owner class will always make more wars for working class people to die, US does the same.

We must not forget humans are being killled due to more endless wars that are pushed by the owner class.

Owner class and their lackeys will always root for: Profit over people.

Civil War (w/ lyrics) - Immortal Technique feat. Killer Mike, Brother Ali & Chuck D

https://youtu.be/fabi8nyjsYc

Hawkeye:
War isn't Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.

Father Mulcahy:
How do you figure, Hawkeye?

Hawkeye:
Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?

Father Mulcahy:
Sinners, I believe.

Hawkeye:
Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock full of them - little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.

“6:16 in LA” is Kendrick Lamar’s second diss track directed at Drake in their public 2024 beef. It follows “euphoria,” which released three days prior. It first appeared on Kendrick’s Instagram page at 6:16 AM Pacific.

The cover art for the song features a glove with the Maybach logo on it, a division of car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, which shares a name with rapper Rick Ross’s music label, Maybach Music Group—an artist who dropped a Drake diss track of his own in April 2024, titled “Champagne Moments.”

Kendrick initially threatened a second diss at Drake on “euphoria,” when he said:

‘Back To Back,’ I like that record
I'ma get back to that, for the record

In Drake’s infamous 2015 beef with Meek Mill, he dropped two disses aimed at Meek within four days—“Charged Up” and then “Back to Back”—not giving Meek any time to respond to his first punches in the fight.

The title of the track also plays off of Drake’s timestamp series, of which there have been seven in Drake’s discography at the time of this release. It follows a not-so-subtle titular jab at Drake in Dot’s previous diss track, as Euphoria is the title of the hit HBO Max series which Drake is an executive producer on; incidentally, Euphoria premiered on June 16, 2019.

June 16, 1994 is also the same date that the OJ Simpson murder trial was submitted in LA. This may add to the use of a single black glove on the cover art, since a glove was famously presented as evidence in the case. The relevance of this fact also comes from Pusha T’s “The Story of Adidon” being a remix of JAY-Z’s “The Story of O.J.”

June 16 is also the birthdate of the late 2Pac, while Kendrick’s birthday falls on June 17. Moreover, Father’s Day will fall on this day in 2024. June 16th was also the date of Kendrick’s first concert in Toronto.

The song was co-produced and co-written by Jack Antonoff, a pop producer known for his collaborations with Taylor Swift. Antonoff’s inclusion is likely a response to Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle,” where he said:

But now we gotta wait a fuckin' week ‘cause Taylor Swift is your new Top
And if you 'bout to drop, she gotta approve
This girl really 'bout to make you act like you not in a feud
She tailor-made your schedule with Ant, you out of the loop

The instrumental samples Al Green’s October 1972 track “What a Wonderful Thing Love Is,” which features Drake’s uncle, Teenie Hodges, on guitar. Notably, the sample has been manipulated to sound similar to “Boi-1-da”—one of Drake’s in-house OVO producers.
