For writers and publishers who, like me, do not want to allow #Google to leech off their hard work. Here's how they say you can exclude your book from their project of systematic #copyright#theft:
@weirdwriter@bookstodon that's not how I would put it. I would say that indie publishing is being buried by grifters churning out millions of stolen words, so that it's harder to find genuine indie books.
So-called 'generative-AI' isn't indie publishing - it's scam artists stealing from indie publishers, writers, and artists.
I actually fully agree with you! I love most indie work, like, genuine indie work! It started with that whole viral nobody buys books anymore and that's a side of indie publishing I'd rather never touch again! I do love buying from indie bookstores, online and offline, because that's how I find some really amazing works! @Rhube@bookstodon
@bookstodon The 2024 Women’s Prize winners were announced last night, life got in the way this year and I failed to read any of the shortlist! | “Doppelganger by Naomi Klein has become the inaugural winner of the Women’s prize for nonfiction, while Brotherless Night by VV Ganeshananthan has been named winner of the fiction prize.
Both books look at how people get swept up in extremism” #bookstodon#WomensPrize#fiction #NonFiction
I’m excited to announce all of my books will be promoted @Smashwords for the month of July as part of their Annual Summer/Winter Sale! Be sure to follow me for more updates and links to the promotion for my books and many more!
“I’m the eighth deadly sin, Willful Insanity! Pride isn’t the root of all sin, because that’s me! All of you demons are weak-a**, pale reflections of me, because humans would have to be crazy to sin!”
--The Hunter's inner demon as she faced the invading legions of Hell, in my novel Demon for President!
Group mentions are at end so take care to remove the groups before replying. I figured I would ask the community! Since Threads users can see our replies and top level interactions now, what books, publishing, writer, or #accessibility accounts do you recommend that do not have a native Fediverse account? If they have a native Fediverse account, I would rather follow them natively. I know about John Green and already follow his Threads account with this account but I’m looking for others. @disability@bookstodon#Publishing
Love this! via The Publishing Post |“Emerge, Return, one of the band’s darker albums, embodies the response of two songwriters triggered by the books they have read. These songs have been described by him as inseparable synergy between the story and its reader along with being steered by the journey of the band.
The Bookshop Band was formed when a group of musicians and Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights in Bath got together. They respond to the books they read by writing songs and performing for bookshop audiences”
