Autumn Afternoon

Heading for Álftafjörður on a bright but chilly September day, the mountains of eastern are beautifully lit.

The tallest peaks are Mýrarfell (1108m) and Einidalsfjall (1029m)

@remote_orb @SilverRainbow @photography I have never visited, but Iceland looks such an amazing beautiful place !

I would love to live there but my body is not good in the cold even the mild winters we get in the UK have my hands going blue & my feet turning to ice !

Horses On A Hill

Iceland in February, very beautiful but with unpredictable weather. We never travel without a change of warm and dry clothes, plenty of water and a high calorie snack. This was the tail-end of a strong wind storm, and we were glad to see it finish.

    Snow Dome

    November: A shot from a plane flying at 6500m between Reykjavik to Akureyri. The accumulation of snowflakes on the top of Hrútfell (1396m) eventually flows as part of a glacier - Hrútfellsjökull.

    The other mountains are Innra-Sandfell and Femra-Sandfell. Bláskógabyggð in the western Central Highlands of .

    A photo of a snowy landscape, taken from high above. The ground surface below is rugged dark rock, lit from the right and highlighted by snowdrifts. On the right-hand side of the shot is the top of a tall mountain with a flat top and gently sloping sides. In the centre of the plateau is a half dome of snow, looking almost like the white yolk of an egg. This reaches the edge of the plateau at the bottom of the photo, in front of the viewer, and is beginning to flow down it. This is the creation of a glacier.

    Blue Hour Harbour

    November, 5pm: The lights of Djúpivogur docks create a highlight in an otherwise darkening scene.
    Djúpavogshreppur in eastern , with the mountains of Berufjörður beyond.

    A photo of a landscape, with snow-capped mountains on the horizon. The light is fading but it's still possible to see that the sky is overcast. In the foreground is a compact but busy harbour, with a range of watercraft tied up, sized from row-boats to quite large fishing vessels. A few containers are visible on the dockside, as well as what appears to be a control tower, possibly the harbour-master. Overhead lights are casting pools of yellow light across the vessels and continuing towards the viewpoint across the water in the foreground of the shot.
