I found this image below in the Frankfurt UB colonial photo archive without any description. It shows a group of #Africans and #German#colonial soldiers in front of a building with a #barbed wire fence.
Does anyone know of any context? During the #Herero and #Nama#Genocide in #Namibia maybe?
It also says: "... South West African Schutztruppe
Tropical helmets were introduced for the South West African Schutztruppe in 1892. [...] These helmets were discarded in the mid 1890s. The Schutztruppe of South West Africa did not wear sun helmets thereafter. ..."
That would be before the Herrero and Nama Genocide.
