Seems pretty reasonable to me. It's not 5 comments, it's 5 posts. I'm guessing they're trying to limit spammers and people with an agenda. As I recall, some Lemmy instances either implemented or considered limits on total posts across communities because of spamming.

/r/France implemented a limit of 4 posts per day a while ago.

I'm actually surprised it wasn't the case on the UK one

Why do you need to post more?

Generally it just means spamming, better to restrict it.

Because sometimes you can see a few articles that interest the population of the United Kingdom, and it's also the lead up to the general election.
